JFK
Oliver Stone's detailed examination of possible answers to unsolved mysteries surrounding John F. Kennedy's assassination. Kevin Costner plays New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison, who remained unconvinced by the Warren Commission Report and launched his own investigation. This film was released on a wave of controversy and led to calls for Congress to re-open government records from the 1977 House Select Committee on the assassination. Stone weaves actual archive footage with historical reconstruction and conjecture to present his argument that Kennedy was killed by the CIA due to his desire to withdraw troops from Vietnam. The film gained several Oscar nominations and Stone won a Golden Globe award for Best Director. Preliminary release date: November 4th.
Jingle All the Way
Arnold Schwarzenegger shows what a big softie he is at heart in this Christmas comedy. Howard Langston (Arnie) is a busy executive who wants to keep in his son's good books by buying him the present at the top of his Christmas list: the Turbo Man doll. The only problem is that Turbo Man is the most popular toy in America, and nearly all the department stores have sold out. Howard spends a desperate Christmas Eve attempting to track down his son's dream present, but finds himself in constant conflict with a crazed postman on a similar mission. Preliminary release date: November 4th.
M*A*S*H
This celebrated satire depicts the crazy antics and the sexual adventures of Hawkeye Pierce (Donald Sutherland), Trapper John McIntyre (Elliott Gould) and Duke Forrest (Tom Skerritt), all surgeons working in a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital during the Korean War. The black humour of the medical team is contrasted with the terrible waste of life that they are exposed to. This was director Robert Altman's first major hit, and bears his characteristic stamp of documentary-like camerawork, loose narrative and quick-fire, realistically delivered dialogue. A long-running, popular television series followed, although the only cast member to make the transition was Gary Burghoff (Radar O'Reilly). Preliminary release date: November 4th.
Marked for Death
When his partner is killed by a ruthless drug overload, narcotics agent John Hatcher (Steven Seagal) decides it is time to retire. But upon returning to his hometown he is horrified to find the people he knows and the place in which he grew up under the control of an evil drug boss called Screwface (Basil Wallace). Naturally, Hatcher isn't a man to take this lying down. Preliminary release date: December 2.
Miracle on 34th Street (1994)
A remake of the 1947 'feel good' classic, telling the heart-warming story of a young girl's desire for a fully-functional family, complete with a father and a baby brother. The girl, Susan, confides in Kris Kringle (Sir Richard Attenborough), the kindly old man who is acting as the grotto Santa in the department store managed by her mother. Kris Kringle, however, believes he is the genuine Santa Claus and this devotion to the cause makes him very popular indeed, leading to record profits for the store. This annoys rival retailers so much that they try to discredit the so-called Santa, leading eventually to a court case in which Kringle and his lawyer try to prove that he is the real thing. Preliminary release date: November 4th.
Miracle on 34th Street (1947)
Doris Walker (Maureen O'Hara), an executive at Macy's department store, believes in taking a common-sense approach to life and is consequently raising her daughter Susan (Natalie Wood) not to believe in Santa Claus. This year however, the convictions of both mother and child are challenged when the kindly old man (Edmund Gwenn) hired as the store Santa insists that he is in fact the real thing. No one believes him, some even think he's insane, but he is willing to go to court to prove his case. Oscars were won by Edmund Gwenn (Best Supporting Actor) and George Seaton (Best Screenplay) and the film was remade in 1994 with Richard Attenborough in the lead. Preliminary release date: November 4th.

Loose comic remake of the 1990s French film trilogy written by Luc Besson. Queen Latifah stars as Belle Williams, New York's fastest (and flashest) cab driver. However, her real dream is to be a racing driver, an ambition she is well on her way to realising - until bumbling cop Andy Washburn (Jimmy Fallon) and a gang of Brazilian bank robbers led by the beautiful Vanessa (supermodel Gisele Bundchen) get in her way...Preliminary release date: December 2.

Gene Wilder plays Frederick Frankenstein, a teacher who inherits his grandfather's Transylvanian estate; Marty Feldman plays Igor, his hunchback assistant; and Peter Boyle, the tap-dancing monster he brings to life in his laboratory. Preliminary release date: October 7th.
