Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Blu-ray Sales: August 9-15: Project Hail Mary Fends Off Mars Attacks! in First Week

For the week that ended on August 15th, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts in its debut. Second place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Mars Attacks!, which was released on 4K UHD this week, while third place went to Warner's own Mortal Kombat II in its third week.

This Week on Blu-ray: August 24-30

For the week of August 24th, Walt Disney Home Entertainment will release Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu on Blu-ray and 4K UHD. Other new releases include Disclosure Day from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, The Sheep Detectives from Alliance Entertainment, Abraham's Boys: A Dracula Story from Shudder, Carolina Caroline from Magnolia Home Entertainment, Reacher: Season Three from Paramount Home Media Distribution, Father Mother Sister Brother from MUBI, Power Ballad from Lionsgate Home Entertainment, The Breadwinner from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and The Audacity: Season 1 from AMC Studios.

The Rock 30th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray

Independent distributors Raro Video U.S. have confirmed that they will release on Blu-ray Pasquale Festa Campanile's crime thriller Hitch-Hike a.k.a. Autostop rosso sangue (1977), starring Franco Nero, Corinne Cléry, David Hess, Carlo Puri, and Joshua Sinclair. The release is expected to arrive on the market in early 2015.

French label Carlotta Films has sent us a brand new trailer for the recent 2K restoration of Orson Welles' Macbeth (1948), starring Orson Welles, Jeanette Nolan, Dan O'Herlihy, Roddy McDowall, and Alan Napier. The new restoration will be introduced in French cinemas on September 10 and will be released on Blu-ray on November 5.

Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 7 & All Good Things Blu-rays

Paramount and CBS Home Entertainment have announced the Blu-ray releases of Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 7, the fan-favorite series' final season. Also revealed: All Good Things..., a standalone release of the ST:TNG series finale. Like previous seasons, the Blu-ray editions of Season 7 and All Good Things... will feature newly remastered 1080p video presentations, visual effects rebuilt from the original elements, DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 surround tracks and a variety of extras. Street date is December 2nd.

4K Blu-ray Confirmed, Coming in Late 2015

4K Blu-ray is officially on the way. According to Victor Matsuda, Chairman of the Blu-ray Disc Association Global Promotions Committee, the BDA expects the specs for 4K Blu-ray to be finalized in the first half of 2015, paving the way for commercial availability by the end of the year. This means we can expect to see actual 4K Blu-ray movies and players available in stores by Christmas next year.

For the week that ended on August 31st, Sony Home Entertainment's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 again took the top spot on the Blu-ray-only rankings. This sequel to the hit 2011 comic-book actioner struggled somewhat to connect with critics and fans. While its worldwide gross was over $708 million, it made just under $203 million domestically, with some analysts speculating that the domestic total did not cover the film's production budget.
