Dracula (1958) 4K Blu-ray

Warner Archive, in association with Hammer Films, is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Terence Fisher's Dracula (1958), starring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Michael Gough, Melissa Stribling, and Carol Marsh. The releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 27.

One Night Only Collector's Edition 4K Blu-ray

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Disney Reveals Shopaholic, Waterboy, and More Buddies

In an early announcement to retailers, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has revealed that they will bring 'Confessions of a Shopaholic' to Blu-ray on June 23rd, day-and-date with the DVD release, followed by Adam Sandler's 'The Waterboy' on July 28th and the next sequel in the Buddies series 'Santa Buddies' on November 24th.

Paramount Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring the first two sequels to the legendary horror franchise 'Friday the 13th: Part 2' and 'Friday the 13th: Part III' to Blu-ray on June 16th. Sony Adds BD-Live Features to Click to Disc Software

Sony has added BD-Live features to their Click to Disc authoring software in Japan, and for the first time, consumers are now able to author their own BD-Live Blu-ray discs. Among the features added during the v2.0 update are the ability to provide a link to a Picasa web album, and use Google Maps to to map GPS tagged photos.

Our friends over at TV Shows on DVD have the inside scoop that 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment will bring the post-finale direct-to-video movie 'Prison Break: The Final Break' to Blu-ray on July 21st, day-and-date with the DVD. Meant to conclude the series by filling in holes left by the finale, video will be presented in 1080p AVC accompanied by a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.

Warner Home Video has announced that they will bring the direct-to-video sequel 'The Cell 2' to Blu-ray on June 16th, day-and-date with the DVD release. Our friends over at TV Shows on DVD have the scoop that 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment will bring 'Dollhouse: Season One' to Blu-ray on July 28th, day-and-date with the DVD release. The three-disc set will include all 13 episodes, including the un-aired pilot, in 1080p AVC video accompanied by a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.

Sharp and Pioneer Plan to Merge Optical Disc Businesses

Sharp and Pioneer have announced that they plan to merge their individual optical discs businesses into a single joint venture this October. Originally announced as part of Pioneer's restructuring plan, the joint venture will allow the two companies to consolidate their technology in order to improve their products.

When making a film about a controversial subject, it is often difficult to represent the subject matter in a way that will appeal to general audiences. Tread too lightly on the subject, and the message can be lost or misunderstood; tread too heavy, and the message feels forced and heavy-handed. It's the ability of 'American History X' to present a great story and an important message seamlessly that makes it a must own title being released on Blu-ray today.

They will bring two additional catalog releases - 'The Towering Inferno' and 'M*A*S*H' out on July 14th.
