The commercial and critical hit '
Gran Torino', starred and directed by Clint Eastwood, was the clear winner in Blu-ray sales for the week ended June 14, according to Nielsen VideoScan First Alert. Following far behind was another new release, '
The International'. The previous week's top seller, '
Defiance', dropped to number 5.

The concert title '
Woodstock: 3 Days of Peace and Music' did very well on Blu-ray, despite being nearly forty years old and having a very high price tag (it's only available on BD in an Ultimate Collector's Edition, whereas the DVD has a no-frills "special edition"). Apart from doing number six in the Blu-ray sales chart, the BD version sold a full 21% of the total sales for this title.
Other BD market share figures per title were 20% for 'The International', 14% for 'Gran Torino', and 8% for the comedy '
Fired Up!' (which didn't even make the top 20 BD chart).
'
Transformers' benefited from the increased anticipation for the upcoming sequel, jumping from number 11 to 8, with a BD market share of 28%.
Update
Home Media Magazine has now published the pie chart comparing aggregate unit sales of the top 20 BDs versus the top 20 DVDs. The split for this week is 13% BD: 87% DVD, one percentage point higher than the previous week.
Total revenue from BD sales was $19.92 million, up 103.16% from the same week last year. DVD revenue was $188.59 million, down 14.69% year-on-year.
BD accounted for 9.6% of total packaged-media sales revenue.
