Warner Archive, in association with Hammer Films, is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Terence Fisher's Dracula (1958), starring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Michael Gough, Melissa Stribling, and Carol Marsh. The releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 27.

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

According to Nielsen VideoScan First Alert, 'Valkyrie' was the top-selling title on Blu-ray in the US for the week ended May 24. Second place was for 'Taken', the top-selling title the week before. 'Paul Blart: Mall Cop', despite winning easily on the overall DVD/Blu-ray charts, only managed third place in Blu-ray, outsold by 'Valkyrie' by nearly 2 to 1. 'My Bloody Valentine' got number 4.

When we listed the special features for the upcoming 'Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series' Blu-ray set, some forum members pointed out that the extras list made no mention of 'The Face of the Enemy'. Indeed, it seems that this series of ten webisodes will be absent from the Blu-ray set.

Warner Home Video has announced that they will bring J.J. Abrams' 'Fringe: The Complete First Season' to Blu-ray on September 8th, day-and-date with the DVD release. Technical specs have not been announced at this time, you you can expect to see a 1080p VC-1 video presentation for all 20 episodes of the premiere season.

Amazon has launched a DVD/Blu-ray Trade-in Program which allows customers to send in their used Blu-ray and DVD titles for Amazon.com Gift Cards. Similar to their existing Video Game Trade-in Program, you simply select the disc you want to trade-in, use the pre-paid shipping label to send it to Amazon, and then you'll have the Amazon Gift Card deposited to your account upon their receipt.

BBC America today announced the acquisition of five new Doctor Who specials, the first of which, 'Planet of the Dead', will have its broadcast premiere in the US in July. Shortly thereafter, it will be released on Blu-ray. At the time of writing, no specific release date or edition details have been divulged.

HDMI Licensing, LLC has announced new features that will be included in the upcoming specs for HDMI v1.4, some of which directly relate to Blu-ray playback. One of the biggest additions is an Ethernet channel that will allow two-way Ethernet communication at speeds up to 100Mb/s over an HDMI connection.

Just before the opening of Pixar's latest film, 'Up', director Pete Docter has mentioned some content that will appear in the Blu-ray, even though that is months away. The BD will include a documentary of the scouting trip the filmmakers took to South America, as well as the now-familiar Cine-Explore feature from Disney discs.

Blockbuster Video Canada has released their Top Blu-ray Disc Sales for the week ending May 24th, and Lionsgate's three dimensional horror film 'My Blood Valentine 3D' scored the top spot. Coming in second and third was Tom Cruise's 'Valkyrie' and the Kevin James comedy 'Paul Blart: Mall Cop', which both earned top spots on Roger's Video's rental list.

Warner Home Video has revealed that they will reissue the 'Harry Potter Years 1-5 Box Set' on June 15th in the UK, day-and-date with the DVD reissue. No known technical or special features appear to be changing with the reissue, though Warner will insert a token in one of the sets that will give one lucky winner a week on the set of the seventh and final Potter film 'Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows'.

French buyers of a recently released James Bond Blu-ray box set were surprised to find inside the box a flyer with upcoming Fox titles that included a never-seen- before picture of an 'Alien Quadrilogy' Blu-ray box set with the caption "coming soon". No more information is available, but such confirmation is definitely good news.
