Marantz is set to launch its new generation of Blu-ray players, under model numbers
BD5004
and
BD7004. Both support BD-Live (Profile 2.0) and advanced audio codecs (Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD) bitstreaming. They both handle DivX files, as well as AVCHD, WMA, MP3 and JPEG, whether read from a disc or from an SD Card.
The BD7004 adds 7.1 analog audio outputs, internal decoding of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, and Anchor Bay's Video Reference Series video processor.
Typically for Marantz, special care has been taken with the player build and elimination of vibrations. Both models feature a new aluminum/resin contoured front panel, custom engineered feet and a centrally-located disc mechanism. The BD7004 adds a second metal plate that reinforces the player's top cover for increased vibration control.
Both players are expected to ship in August. List price is $549.99 for the BD5004 and $799.99 for the BD7004.
