Warner Archive, in association with Hammer Films, is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Terence Fisher's Dracula (1958), starring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Michael Gough, Melissa Stribling, and Carol Marsh. The releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 27.

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

At the CES show in Las Vegas, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. unveiled its Blu-ray line, with seven new products, four of them 3D compatible, and three supporting 3D upconversion using Samsung's system-on-chip (SoC). They include the world's slimmest 3D Blu-Ray disc player (model BD-D7500); a compact and minimalist 3D Blu-ray disc player design (model BD-D7000); a 3D Blu-ray with dual HDMI and mobile phone control options (model BD-D6700); and a Blu-ray player with built-in Wi-Fi and 3D (model BD-D6500).

At the CES show in Las Vegas Sharp Electronics Corporation introduced three 3D wireless Blu-ray Disc players, models BD-HP75U, BD-HP35U and BD-HP25U. In addition to playing 2D and 3D Blu-ray discs, they provide consumers access to content from a wide variety of Internet sources, including Netflix, VUDU, Pandora and YouTube via Wireless LAN. All models are Energy Star qualified.

At the CES show in Las Vegas, Sony introduced its new Blu-ray Disc line, including four standalone players (BDP-S780, BDP-S580, BDP-S480, and BDP-S380) and three integrated home theater systems (BDV-E780W, BDV-E580, and BDV-E280), as well as a 5.1 channel home theater audio system (HT-SS380). All of the models play back DVD, CD and SACD discs in addition to Blu-ray Discs. The company also introduced its first portable Blu-ray Disc player, BDP-SX1000, which features a 10.1-inch WSVGA screen.

Paramount has changed the street date for the Blu-ray edition of A.I. Artificial Intelligence. Originally slated for a February 15 release Steven Spielberg's dark sci-fi fairy tale will now come out on BD on April 12. Technical specifications and special features are unchanged.

It was neck and neck for the top-selling Blu-ray spot in the week ended January 2, but in the end Inception, now in its fourth week in stores, narrowly beat newcomer Resident Evil: Afterlife in the charts. Sony's horror/action/sci-fi movie got 44% of its total disc sales from the BD release, a record for a title not bundled with a DVD copy.

Anchor Bay Entertainment has revealed the final details for The Walking Dead: The Complete First Season, which will hit store shelves on March 8. The release will consist of two Blu-ray discs including the six episodes of the first season of this post-apocalyptic saga set in a world overrun by zombies, with special behind-the-scenes featurettes and "insightful extra footage."

Paramount Home Entertainment has announced Jackass 3 for Blu-ray release on March 8, in a BD/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack, including an unrated version of the film with "outrageous footage not seen in theaters," as well as the original theatrical version. Even though this movie was prominently shown in 3D in theaters (to the point of the 3D tag being part of the title), no 3D BD has been announced, although an anaglyph stereoscopic version will be included in the accompanying DVD.

Anchor Bay Entertainment has signed a multi-year US home video agreement for new theatrical content from The Weinstein Company and its Dimension Films label. This deal includes Blu-ray and covers up to 20 TWC and Dimension titles per year, including The King's Speech, Blue Valentine and Company Men.

Sherwood America Inc. announced today the introduction of the BD-876 3D-compatible, network-enabled Blu-ray player, and the first Sherwood model to carry the high-performance Sherwood Newcastle designation. Today at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Philips unveiled a new line of Blu-ray playback devices, with five new players. Three of them are 3D compatible, with prices starting at $169.99. Five home theater systems (again, three of them with 3D) were also announced, with prices going from $269.99 to $449.99. Features include Philips MediaConnect, NetTV, Netflix and Blockbuster streaming.

Honoring 25 years of one of the most popular musicals ever written, this film was shot at sold-out performances that were watched live around the world. Tomorrow at 11:30 PST, a "most impressive" announcement will be made regarding the Blu-ray release of Star Wars: The Complete Saga. The event will be held at Panasonic's booth at the CES electronics fair in Las Vegas, which makes it likely that a 3D conversion of the Star Wars will also be a part of the announcement.

Warner Home Video has announced Hereafter for Blu-ray release on March 15, in a BD/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack. The latest movie directed by veteran filmmaker Clint Eastwood, Hereafter stars Matt Damon as a blue-collar American with a special connection to the afterlife. The BD will feature the 90-minute documentary The Eastwood Factor – Extended Version, for the first time in high definition.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has revealed the full details for A Woman, a Gun and a Noodle Shop (San qiang pai an jing qi). As previously reported, this Chinese remake of the Coen brothers' Blood Simple, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Zhang Yimou, is slated for Blu-ray release on February 1. The BD will include 19 featurettes, with an aggregate running time of 100 minutes.

Paramount Home Entertainment has announced Megamind for Blu-ray release on February 25, in a BD/DVD "Mega Double Pack," including a new Megamind adventure, titled "The Button of Doom," featuring members of the original voice cast. Although this Dreamworks Animation movie was produced and shown theatrically in 3D, only a 2D BD version has been announced at the moment. Going from previous DWA titles, such as How to Train Your Dragon 3D and Monsters vs. Aliens 3D, a 3D version may come out as part of a Samsung 3D hardware bundle.

Amazon's Blu-ray deal of the week consists of Great Migrations, which currently can be had for only $22.49 (55% off MSRP). This is the cheapest that this two-disc National Geographic Blu-ray set, which features of all of Great Migrations' four initial episodes, plus two bonus programs which are being broadcast as supplemental parts to the initial series. Once again, The Criterion Collection has decided to wish its friends a happy new year with a cryptic e-card filled with obscure hints of the titles it plans to release in the coming year. Members of the Blu-ray.com forum and other boards have tried to decipher the clues and concluded that the studio will soon release major titles such as Andrei Tarkovsky's Solaris, Roman Polanski's Cul de sac and Alfonso Cuarón's Y tu mamá también.
