The first U.S. trailer for the upcoming spy thriller
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy has landed online courtesy of Yahoo Trailers. The Focus Features/Studio Canal production adapts John le Carré's classic spy novel of the same name and will feature performances from Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, John Hurt, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong, Toby Jones and Benedict Cumberbatch.
The film is set in the 1970's and follows British agent George Smiley (Oldman) as he is brought out of retirement to investigate the possibility of a Soviet spy working within the British Secret Intelligence Service a.k.a. MI-6. The project will act as the latest effort from Swedish director Tomas Alfredson (
Let the Right One In).
U.K. audiences will get the first look at
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy when the film opens there next week on September 16th. A December 9th, 2011 premiere has been set for the U.S. and France.
