One Night Only Collector's Edition 4K Blu-ray

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Digital Copy Coming to Android Courtesy of Fox

Starting with X-Men: First Class, Twentieth Century Fox are to include a digital copy compatible with Android phones and tablets with Blu-ray Discs. The digital copies will leverage Google's newly acquired Widevine DRM platform, which is also used by Netflix and other digital video services.

Jackie Chan's 2010 action comedy Little Big Soldier has been slated for an August 23rd release courtesy of Well Go USA. The film, which was written and produced by Chan, features the actor as a soldier in 220 BC China. The Blu-ray/DVD combo pack has been listed with a SRP of $29.98.

Namco Bandai have announced that Macross Frontier the Movie: Wings of Goodbye is going to get special treatment. Building on the Macross gaming legacy, they have announced that the Blu-ray Disc will be a hybrid form with both the movie and an as yet unannounced Macross game on the same disc.

The Walking Dead: The Complete First Season: Limited and Special Edition Blu-rays

In anticipation of The Walking Dead: Season 2 premiere this fall, Anchor Bay Entertainment will re-release the The Walking Dead: The Complete First Season in Limited and Special Editions on October 4th. Both versions will include all new special features spread across three Blu-ray discs. A SRP of $89.99 has been set for the Limited Edition and $59.99 for the Special Edition.

Independent French distributors Emylia will release on Blu-ray Robert V. Galluzzo's documentary The Psycho Legacy (2010). In this documentary, various cast and crew members from the four Psycho films recall their time working on the influential horror series. Technical specs and region coding status for this release are unknown at the moment, but the preliminary release date set by the distributors is October 18th.

The film, which was shot to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party founding of China, boasts an impressive cast -- most notably Jet Li, Andy Lau, Tony Leung Ka Fai, Zhang Ziyi, Jackie Chan, Stephen Chow and Donnie Yen. Shout Factory, Kevin Smith and SModCo announced a multi-property alliance to bring Kevin Smith's popular comedy special Kevin Smith: Too Fat For 40 and uproarious animated property Smodimations from Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier to the home entertainment marketplace. This alliance provides Shout Factory with licensing rights to distribute over six hours of original content on DVD and Blu-ray.

Eureka Entertainment Strike Partnership With Universal Pictures

Fox has revealed that their reboot of the X-Men franchise, X-Men: First Class is slated for a September 9th release. The studio will be giving away Magneto and Xavier t-shirts to the first 1,000 fans to pre-order the release at this week's Comic-Con. A SRP of 39.99 has been set. Pre-orders have also gone up on Amazon.

It was a safe assumption that David Yates' Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 would be a hugely successful phenomenon.
