Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

The Rock 30th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray

Carlotta Films: Renoir, Kobayashi, Powell and Pressburger in 2012

Last week, Carlotta Films announced that they will release on Blu-ray Jerry Schatzberg's Puzzle of a Downfall Child (February 22). Now the French distributors have revealed that they are also planning to release on Blu-ray Jean Renoir's The River (March 21), Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger's Black Narcissus (March 7th), and Masaki Kobayashi's Harakiri (April 2012).

Blu-ray Sales, Nov 21-27: Potter Enchants Black Friday

Deals for Blu-ray movies were easily found for sales week ending 11/27/2011, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 managed to top all of the other movie titles to claim the No. 1 spot on both the Blu-ray and the overall package media sales charts for a third consecutive week. Following up on two strong weeks of disc sales, the final Harry Potter movie was very appealing to Black Friday shoppers.

In an early retail announcement, HBO Home Entertainment has revealed plans to bring Game of Thrones: The Complete First Season to Blu-ray next March. This highly acclaimed fantasy series takes a gritty and complex look at the violence and political infighting motivating the seven noble familes of mythical Westeros. Game of Thrones: The Complete First Season is expected to street on March 6th, 2012.

The Thing (2011) Blu-ray

Next year, Universal Studios Home Entertainment will release The Thing on Blu-ray. Director Matthijs Van Heijningen's feature-film debut, this thriller acts as a prequel to John Carpenter's horror film of the same name, detailing what happened when a vicious shape-shifting alien first made contact with an Antarctic research team. Tomboy Blu-ray Announced

Independent British distributors Peccadillo Pictures have officially announced that they will release on Blu-ray director Céline Sciamma's (Water Lilies) second feature film Tomboy (2011), starring Zoé Héran, Malonn Lévana, and Jeanne Disson. Earlier this year, the film won the Teddy Jury Award at the Berlin International Film Festival. Street date is February 27th.

NPD: Better Cyber Monday Results

According to The NPD Group, a greater number of people shopped online this year rather than spending more. 28 percent of consumers shopped online during Cyber Monday compared to 21 percent last year, and 16 percent reported making a purchase compared to 12 percent last year.

Two Woody Allen Films Heading to Blu-ray

In an early announcement to retailers, MGM has revealed that it will release on Blu-ray two Woody Allen films: Annie Hall (1977), winner of four Oscar Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, and Manhattan (1979), winner of BAFTA Awards for Best Film and Best Screenplay. Street date is January 24th.
