In an early retail announcement, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has indicated plans to bring In the Land of Blood and Honey to Blu-ray this year.
The directorial debut of actress Angelina Jolie (Changeling), this gritty drama uses the War in Bosnia and Herzegovina to examine the fraught relationship between Danijel (Goran Kostić, Taken), a soldier working with the Bosnian Serbs, and Ajla (Zana Marjanović, It's Hard to Be Nice), a Bosniak military captive once romantically involved with Danijel.
The winner of the Heart of Sarajevo Award at the 2011 Sarajevo Film Festival, In the Land of Blood and Honey also received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.
Update: Sony's Blu-ray/DVD combo pack presents the film in its 2.39:1 original aspect ratio with a Serbian/Bosnian/Croatian 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track; the DVD offers the English-language version. In addition, the disc contains the following bonus supplements:
