Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

The Rock 30th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray

Criterion Blu-ray Sale at Barnes & Noble

Barnes & Noble is having its first Criterion Collection sale of the year. The retail chain will offer 50% off MSRPs of all online and most in-store Criterion Blu-ray titles. It is also expected that Barnes & Noble will make several member and non-member coupons available throughout the duration of the Criterion sale. This deal ends on July 30th.

Warner Brings Dark Shadows Titles to Blu-ray

In the fall, Warner Home Entertainment will bring both House of Dark Shadows and Night of Dark Shadows to Blu-ray. These cinematic spin-offs of the popular television soap opera further examine the supernatural happenings at the gothic Collinwood Mansion. The two films street on October 30th.

Battleship Blu-ray

In August, Universal Studios Home Entertainment will bring Battleship to Blu-ray. Filmmaker Peter Berg (Hancock) helms this sci-fi-action epic about a hostile alien presence that invades Earth, with only a military battleship under the command of a shiftless Naval lieutenant (Taylor Kitsch, John Carter) standing between the creatures and total global domination. Battleship streets on August 28th.

Anchor Bay Entertainment UK has announced that it will release on Blu-ray director Brandon Nutt's Hijacked (2012), starring Dominic Purcell, Craig Fairbrass and Vinnie Jones. The Blu-ray will be available for purchase online and in shops across the United Kingdom on July 30th.

French distributors Carlotta Films have sent us preliminary specs and coverart for a number of films they are planning to release on Blu-ray in the second half of the year. The Dick Van Dyke Show: The Complete Series Blu-ray in October

On Image Entertainment's web site there appears a listing for The Dick Van Dyke Show: The Complete Series Blu-ray set to be released in October 30 of this year. The 5-season set of the popular 1960's TV series staring Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore will be on 15 Blu-ray discs and has been mastered in High Definition.

Train of Life and The Milk of Sorrow Heading to Blu-ray

Independent distributors Olive Films have added two more titles to their October slate: Romanian director Radu Mihaileanu's Train de vie a.k.a Train of Life (1998) and Peruvian director Claudia Llosa's The Milk of Sorrow (2009). Both films will be available for purchase on October 2.

The UK branch of Universal Pictures has set a preliminary release date for Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom (2012), starring Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Bruce Willis, and Jason Schwartzman. The film had its world premiere in May at the Cannes Film Festival. Street date is October 1.

Terror Train and The Funhouse Blu-rays

Next month, Kino Lorber will bring They Made Me a Fugitive to Blu-ray. Director Alberto Cavalcanti's classic film noir - released in America as I Became a Criminal - stars Trevor Howard (Brief Encounter) as a cynical war veteran who descends into a life of crime. They Made Me a Fugitive is expected to street on July 24th.

In the U.S., 20th Century Fox Entertainment is yet to detail its upcoming Blu-ray release of Ridley Scott's Prometheus, but some preliminary specs for the French Blu-ray release are already available. Prometheus will be available for purchase in France on October 3rd.

Lionsgate Home Entertainment will bring Blue Like Jazz to Blu-ray next month. This screen adaptation of author Donald Miller's semi-autobiographical reflections stars Marshall Allman (True Blood) as a young man seeking for meaning outside the confines of his deeply religious hometown. Blue Like Jazz streets on August 7th.

Blu-ray Sales, June 25-July 1: Wrath Fights Jump Street for Number One

For the week ending on July 1st, two titles jockeyed for the top spot on the Blu-ray and overall media rankings: Wrath of the Titans and 21 Jump Street. Wrath of the Titans garnered the top spot on the Blu-ray-only chart; the film also enjoyed a 55% Blu-ray market share. 21 Jump Street couldn't compete, selling 77% as many discs as Wrath to secure the second highest position.

Paramount Pictures and Yahoo Movies have revealed the first teaser trailer for Jack Reacher. The action thriller, which takes its inspiration from author Lee Child's novel One Shot, stars Tom Cruise (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol) as the title character, a decorated military policeman now drifting throughout the United States, helping people in need. Jack Reacher's scheduled U.S. release date is December 21st.

Independent distributors Olive Films have revealed that they are planning to bring to Blu-ray four films directed by George Sherman and starring John Wayne, Ray Corrigan, and Max Terhune: Overland Stage Raiders (1938), The Night Riders (1939), Red River Range (1938), and Three Texas Steers (1939). The preliminary release date for all four films is October 2.
