Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Kino Lorber are bringing to U.S. theaters Korean director Hong Sang-soo's In Another Country (2012), starring Isabelle Hupert, Yu Jun-sang, and Kwon Hae-hyo. Earlier this year, the film was screened at the Cannes Film Festival, where it was nominated for the prestigious Palme d'Or Award.

Warner Bros. has just released a new trailer detailing The Dark Knight Rises Blu-ray combo pack. The sizzle trailer showcases the over three hours of bonus materials available on the upcoming three disc set, including behind the scenes footage and even a look back on Batman's myriad of super-charged automobiles. Criterion Blu-ray in January: Tarkovsky, Hitchcock, Schlöndorff, Wenders, Hellman

The Criterion Collection has announced five titles for Blu-ray release in January. On January 8th, the studio will release Two-Lane Blacktop (Monte Hellman, 1971). A week later, it will release The Tin Drum (Volker Schlöndorff, 1979) and The Man Who Knew Too Much (Alfred Hitchcock, 1934). On January 22, it will release Ivan's Childhood (Andrei Tarkovsky, 1962) and Pina (Win Wenders, 2011).

Nature Calls Blu-ray

Magnolia Home Entertainment, in an early alert to retailers has announced the Blu-ray release of Nature Calls. Directed by Todd Rohal, the comedy stars Patton Oswalt (Ratatouille), Johnny Knoxville (Jackass 3), Rob Riggle (21 Jump Street) and, in his last film role, Patrice O'Neal (Furry Vengeance). Currently, no special features or technical specs have been announced. Catch Nature Calls in theaters November 9th, and in stores January 22nd.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's Premium Rush starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark Knight Rises) is coming to Blu-ray. Directed by David Koepp, the action thriller co-stars Michael Shannon (Pearl Harbor), Jamie Chung (Sucker Punch), Dania Ramirez (X-Men: The Last Stand), Aasif Mandvi (The Proposal) and Lauren Ashley Carter (The Woman). Premium Rush races in to store December 21st.

This holiday season, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainments's Diary of a Wimpy Kid franchise is receiving another sequel on Blu-ray. Diary of a Wimpy Kid Dog Days stars Zachary Gordon, Robert Capron and Devon Bostick from previous Wimpy Kid titles, along with Steve Zahn (Sahara), Rachael Harris (The Hangover) and Peyton List (27 Dresses). The Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo-pack runs onto Blu-ray December 18th.

In an announcement to retailers, Universal Studios revealed its plans to bring Fear to Blu-ray early next year. Directed by James Foley, the dramatic thriller stars Mark Wahlberg (The Fighter), and Reese Witherspoon (Walk the Line), supported by William Petersen (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation), Amy Brenneman (Heat), and Alyssa Milano (Charmed). Special features and technical specs have yet to be released. Fear makes its Blu-ray debut January 8th.

Warner Brothers is putting together a Blu-ray DigiBook version of A Star is Born for release early next year. Starring Barbra Streisand (Streisand: Live in Concert 2006), Kris Kristofferson (Blade), and Gary Busey (Lethal Weapon), the 1976 musical won 5 Golden Globes including best actress in a musical/comedy. A Star is Born hits shelves February 5th.

House of Wax 3D Blu-ray

In an announcement to media outlets, Warner Bros. revealed its plans to bring the 1953 classic House of Wax to Blu-ray 3D. Starring Vincent Price (Edward Scissorhands), the film was among the first feature length films to ever be shot in stereoscopic 3D. Aside from title information, no special features, technical specs or exact release date have been confirmed. House of Wax 3D hits shelves Q3 2013.

Universal Studios' 1962 Cape Fear is making its way to Blu-ray this January. The original dramatic thriller stars Gregory Peck (To Catch a Mockingbird), Robert Mitchum (The Night of the Hunter) and Polly Bergen (Cry-Baby), and is presented with a 1.85:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD 2.0 Mono Master Audio sound. Director J. Lee Thompson's Cape Fear creeps its way onto Blu-ray January 8th.

French distributors Pathe have officially announced that they will release on Blu-ray director Roman Polanski's Tess (1979), starring Nastassja Kinski, Peter Firth and Leigh Lawson. The release will be available for purchase in France on December 5th.

BFI to Screen Banned and Censored Films

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), the BFI is getting ready to screen a number of films that were at one point either censored or banned. The screenings will be part of the Uncut! program, which will run during the entire month of November at the BFI Southbank.
