American Film Institute Announces AFI Awards 2012 Official Selections

The American Film Institute (AFI) has announced the official selections of AFI AWARDS 2012 - "the awards season event favored by artists and entertainment executives for its intimacy and collaborative recognition where everyone is a winner - that documents the year's most outstanding achievements in film and television." They are grouped in two lists, each featuring ten selections.

Amongst the feature film nominees are Benh Zeitlin's Beasts of the Southern Wild, Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom, Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, as well as Kathryn Bigelow's latest film, Zero Dark Thirty.

The selected TV programs include Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Mad Men, and The Walking Dead, amongst others.

AFI will honor the creative ensembles for each of the selections at an invitation-only luncheon on Friday, January 11, 2013 in Los Angeles, California.
