This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Scream Factory and Shout Factory have announced their November batch of releases. They are: The Chow Yun-Fat Collection Volume One, The Family Man (2000), Women in Prison Collection (1971-1985), and The Transformers: The Movie (1986).

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Blu-ray Sales: August 9-15: Project Hail Mary Fends Off Mars Attacks! in First Week

For the week that ended on August 15th, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts in its debut. Second place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Mars Attacks!, which was released on 4K UHD this week, while third place went to Warner's own Mortal Kombat II in its third week.

The Rock 30th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray

Dead Poets Society 4K Blu-ray

20th Century Studios is preparing a combo pack release of Peter Weir's Dead Poets Society (1989), starring Robin Williams, Robert Sean Leonard, Ethan Hawke, Josh Charles, and Gale Hansen. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on September 29.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has revealed that it plans to bring to Blu-ray award winning director Michael Haneke's Amour (2012), starring Jean-Louis Trintignant, Emmanuelle Riva, and Isabelle Huppert. The preliminary release date set by the studio is August 20th.

For the week of June 11th, Paramount Pictures is bringing Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters to Blu-ray. This horror-comedy received negative press prior to its theatrical release, but the end result is surprisingly fleet and exciting. Other releases include Summit's Snitch, with its powerful Dwayne Johnson performance, Disney's not-half-bad reboot Oz: The Great and Powerful, and Sony's first season set of House of Cards.

The Postman Always Rings Twice (1981) Blu-ray Dated

Having been delayed in 2012, the Blu-ray release of director Bob Rafelson and screenwriter David Mamet's The Postman Always Rings Twice (1981) has a new release date: September 3rd. The film is an adaptation of the 1934 James M. Cain novel and the 1946 Tay Garnett crime drama of the same name, and stars Jack Nicholson, Jessica Lane and John Colicos. Warner Bros. has yet to detail technical specifications and special features.

Tremors Sequels Heading to Blu-ray

British distributors Second Sight Films have revealed that they are planning to release on Blu-ray French director Jean-Jacques Beineix's 37°2 le matin a.k.a Betty Blue (1986), starring Jean-Hugues Anglade, Béatrice Dalle, and Gérard Darmon. Currently, it is unknown whether this upcoming release will contain the longer Director's Cut of the film.

Cohen Media Group has revealed that it plans to add three titles to its Blu-ray catalog: legendary director Jean-Pierre Melville's Deux hommes dans Manhattan a.k.a Two Men in Manhattan (1959), François Ozon's Dans la maison a.k.a In the House (2012), and Pablo Berger's Blancanieves (2012). The three titles will arrive on the market in September.
