This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Blu-ray Sales: August 9-15: Project Hail Mary Fends Off Mars Attacks! in First Week

For the week that ended on August 15th, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts in its debut. Second place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Mars Attacks!, which was released on 4K UHD this week, while third place went to Warner's own Mortal Kombat II in its third week.

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have released the first trailer for producer/writer Zack Snyder and director Noam Murro's 300: Rise of an Empire. The sequel to Snyder's 2006 adaptation of the acclaimed Frank Miller limited comic book series stars Sullivan Stapleton, Eva Green, Hans Matheson, Lena Headey and Rodrigo Santoro, and arrives in U.S. theaters on March 7, 2014.

The UK branch of 20th Century Fox has sent us promo stills and the new international trailer for director James Mangold's upcoming film The Wolverine (2013), starring Hugh Jackman, Will Yun Lee, and Tao Okamoto. PlayStation 4 Price Revealed, $399, €399 and £349

At E3 last night Sony revealed the price of the PlayStation 4. It will be $399 in the US and €399/£349 in Europe. They also revealed the design, a very slick looking box with elements that hark back to the PlayStation 2 Slim edition. Jack Tretton, SCEA President, also announced on stage that Sony would not impose sanctions on used games, trading or lending and that there would be no internet check in requirements.
