This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Scream Factory and Shout Factory have announced their November batch of releases. They are: The Chow Yun-Fat Collection Volume One, The Family Man (2000), Women in Prison Collection (1971-1985), and The Transformers: The Movie (1986).

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Blu-ray Sales: August 9-15: Project Hail Mary Fends Off Mars Attacks! in First Week

For the week that ended on August 15th, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts in its debut. Second place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Mars Attacks!, which was released on 4K UHD this week, while third place went to Warner's own Mortal Kombat II in its third week.

The Rock 30th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray

Twentieth Century Studios plans to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Michael Bay's The Rock (1996) with a new combo pack release, which is expected to arrive on the market before the end of the year.

First Trailer for Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street

Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for Martin Scorsese's latest project, The Wolf of Wall Street (2013). Financed and produced by Red Granite Pictures, the film will open in theaters across the United States on November 15th. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Matthew McConaughey, Jonah Hill, Jean Dujardin, Rob Reiner, Kyle Chandler, Margot Robbie and Jon Bernthal.

The Guillotines Blu-ray (Updated)

Texas-based distributors Well Go USA Entertainment have revealed that they are planning to bring to Blu-ray director Andrew Lau's period action film The Guillotines (2012), starring Shawn Yue, Huang Xiao-Ming, Stephy Tang, Wen Zhang, and Boran Jing. The preliminary release date set by the distributors is August 13th.

For the week of June 18th, Warner Home Entertainment is bringing Jack the Giant Slayer to Blu-ray. Director Bryan Singer's adventure-fantasy is winning, with a sense of derring-do inspired by The Adventures of Robin Hood. Other releases include Criterion's great Safety Last disc, Scream Factory's HD upgrades of The Howling, and Lifeforce, and Park Chan-wook's latest thriller, the visually stunning Stoker.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Confirms He Will be Back in Terminator 5

Paramount Wins La Dolce Vita Rights Case

A New York judge has determined that Paramount owns the U.S. rights to Italian director Federico Fellini's legendary film La Dolce Vita. Paramount was involved in a legal battle with International Media Films, which had previously released the film on DVD.

Blu-ray Sales, June 3-9: Die Hard Beats Identity Theft in HD Totals

For the week that ended on June 9th, Twentieth Century Fox's A Good Day to Die Hard took the top sales position on the Blu-ray-only chart. This fifth installment in the Die Hard franchise was the series' most critically lambasted entry, though it still performed admirably at theaters around the globe, grossing over $304 million worldwide on top of its $92 million budget.
