Dracula (1958) 4K Blu-ray

Warner Archive, in association with Hammer Films, is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Terence Fisher's Dracula (1958), starring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Michael Gough, Melissa Stribling, and Carol Marsh. The releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 27.

One Night Only Collector's Edition 4K Blu-ray

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

The Day The Earth Stood Still Remake Coming to Blu-ray

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring the 2008 remake of 'The Day the Earth Stood Still' to Blu-ray on April 7th, day-and-date with the DVD release. This three-disc set will feature a digital copy of the film as well as a copy of the 1951 remake (presumably on Blu-ray). Video will be presented in 2.45:1 1080p AVC accompanied by a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.

Paramount Announces Catalog Titles for May

In an early alert to retailers, Paramount Home Entertainment revealed an impressive list of catalog titles they will be bringing to Blu-ray this May. As these are just retailer alerts, no technical specs or special features have been revealed for any of these titles, but you can expect the typical 1080p AVC video and Dolby TrueHD audio.

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring 'Marley & Me' to Blu-ray on March 31st, day-and-date with the DVD release. This three-disc set will feature a digital copy of the film, along with the single DVD release. Video will be presented in 2.35:1 1080p AVC accompanied by a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.

Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced the technical specs and special features for the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'Transporter 3', which is due to hit store shelves on March 10th, day-and-date with the DVD release. This two-disc set, which features a digital copy of the film, will be presented in 2.35:1 1080p AVC accompanied by a 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.

TMNT Blu-ray Boxset Revealed for August

Warner Home Video has revealed that they will bring the 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Collector's Edition Box Set' to Blu-ray this August, day-and-date with the DVD release. The set, which is celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the characters, will include all four TMNT films - 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles', 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze', 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Turtles in Time', and 'TMNT' - in stunning high definition.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment have further detailed the upcoming Blu-ray releases of 'Pitch Black' and 'The Chronicles of Riddick', which are due to hit store shelves on March 31st, both individually and as a two-pack. Panasonic Moves Forward with 3D Blu-ray Plans

Panasonic has recently opened new 3D labs at the Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory in California in order to establish and develop their version of 3D Blu-ray, which they are calling "3D Full HD" (3D FHD). There, they will work directly with Hollywood studios to develop 3D Blu-ray titles, as well as develop consumer products to support those titles.

Season One of CSI Coming to Blu-ray

Paramount Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: The First Season' to Blu-ray on May 12th. This highly popular television series, currently in its ninth season, has spawned numerous spin-offs and garnished a loyal fan base. Technical specs have yet to be announced, though early indication is that this release will receive a 7.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtrack.

New Chris Botti Blu-ray Due for March

Sony Music has announced that they will bring 'Chris Botti: Live in Boston' to Blu-ray on March 31st, day-and-date with the DVD and CD releases. The world famous trumpeter was filmed over two nights playing with friends (including Sting, Josh Groban, Steven Tyler, Yo-Yo Ma, John Mayer, Katharine McPhee, Lucia Micarelli, and Sy Smith) for this release. Video specs have not been released at this time, but we do know that audio will be presented in 7.1 Dolby TrueHD.

Rumor: New Terminator 2 Release Coming Soon?

Retailers have been alerted to a new Blu-ray release of 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day' with no release date. An "Endo Skull Edition" release was also revealed, indicating a possible limited edition version in the works as well. Now, we normally do not report on placeholders, but being that a new Terminator film is due for theatrical release this May, and industry insiders have mentioned a possible new release, we can say its a safe bet that a new Blu-ray release is on its way.

Season Two of Dexter Coming This May

Paramount Home Entertainment has revealed that they will bring 'Dexter: The Complete Second Season' to Blu-ray on May 5th. The set will feature all 12 episodes in 1080p AVC accompanied by a 5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtrack. The release will be BD-Live enhanced, giving viewers to additional content like featurettes, podcasts, and the first two episodes of the Showtime series 'The United States of Tara' and 'Nurse Jackie'.

Tell No One Extras Detailed

MPI Media Group has announced the extras for the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'Tell No One', which is due to hit store shelves on March 31st, day-and-date with the DVD release. Technical specs have not been revealed at this time. Extras include deleted scenes, outtakes, the featurette "Tell No One: The B Side". Exclusive to the Blu-ray release will be a making of featurette.

Transsiberian Announced for UK Release

Icon Home Entertainment has announced that they are bringing the Brad Anderson directed film 'Transsiberian' to Blu-ray on March 2nd, day-and-date with the DVD release. Technical specs have not been announced at this time. Special features include cast and crew interviews, a making of featurette, and deleted scenes.

Riddick Films Coming to Blu-ray

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring the two Riddick films 'Pitch Black' and 'The Chronicles of Riddick' to Blu-ray on March 31st. Previously only available in high definition on the now defunct HD DVD format, these two Vin Diesel films will be presented in 1080p VC-1 video accompanied by 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtracks.

Based on what little information we know about the title, this direct-to-video sequel has nothing in common with the cult classic 'Donnie Darko' apart from the name.

The Dark Knight Blu-ray Nears 3 Million Units Sold

According to Warner Home Video, the Blu-ray release of 'The Dark Knight' has sold an astounding 2.8 Million copies, with 2 Million being sold in the US alone. As many will recall, the most recent Batman film sold a record-breaking 1.7 Million copies in its first week of sale. Since then, sales have been steady, and worldwide sales are quickly approaching the 3 Million mark.

Blu-ray Players to Reach $150 This Year

According to Chinese newspaper Economic Daily News, white-box vendors - the term used for little-known consumer electronic manufacturers - will offer Blu-ray Disc players at the $150 price point this year. Additionally, Lite-On is planning to offer a half-height Blu-ray Disc drive for laptop applications for roughly the same price.
