Rivergate Software has released BluStreak Premaster, a Macintosh application for formatting Blu-ray titles for mass distribution. Aimed at professional videographers, it is the first program which enables a complete work flow on Mac, from video and audio capture all the way to submitting a BD master to a replication facility.
Bruce Nazarian, President of the DVDA/IDMA, says "BluStreak Premaster provides the missing link for professional Blu-ray authoring on the Mac".
BluStreak Premaster accepts a disc image or folder from any Blu-ray authoring application, and writes a "BDCMF" folder containing all of the necessary files for a replication facility to create a "glass master". This glass master is then typically used to make thousands of copies for distribution.
There are currently two solutions for BD authoring on Mac. Roxio Toast 10 offers simple template menus and MPEG-2 encoding. Adobe Encore CS4 offers built-in MPEG-2 and AVC encoding, and will accept input from other encoders. Encore also offers the ability to create Blu-ray pop-up menus.
BluStreak Premaster is available for purchase at the special introductory price of $299 from
Rivergate's web site.
