The
BD390, the new top-of-the-line Blu-ray player model by LG Electronics, is available now and is receiving its first reviews. Its extensive set of features (which include built-in WiFi, streaming of Netflix, YouTube and CinemaNow content, and DivX HD playback) makes it one of the most interesting models in the market.
The BD390 is BonusView and BD-Live enabled, with 1GB built-in storage. It supports 1080p video output, including 1080/24p. It decodes and bitstreams Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD, and has a set of 7.1 analog audio outputs.
The multimedia features of the BD390 include support for AVCHD and DivX HD. Many new players are now including streaming of online content, and the BD390 supports Netflix Instant Watch, YouTube and –through a recent update- CinemaNow.
The BD390 is UPnP and DLNA-compatible, and it ships with a copy of Nero MediaHome 4 Essentials, which allows consumers to stream wirelessly all their photos, audio and videos from a PC over their network to the player.
Technology blog Gizmodo was first to publish a
review
of the player, but it was mainly centered around the media center/multimedia capabilities of the player. The reviewer concludes, "throwing in CinemaNow for new-release movies on demand, and adding integrated Wi-Fi for ease of playback, makes the LG BD390 the new Blu-ray player to beat."
The BD390 has an MSRP of $449.95.
