Much like Luc Besson's character Leon in
The Professional, trained assassin aren't exactly inconspicuous. They aren't highly trained killing machines in peak physical condition, will little regard to the value of human life. But when a young, blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl is your most imminent threat, it makes things a bit more interesting. Today's Blu-ray release of
Hanna, is just that. While it may not win over all assassin genre film fans, it's definitely a unique experience.

Hanna Blu-ray review , staff reviewer Kenneth Brown commented, "No, it won't win over every filmfan, nor will it enchant everyone as easily as it did me. But it won't soon be forgotten either. Thankfully, Universal's Blu-ray release is an excellent one. Between its gorgeous video transfer, electrifying DTS-HD Master Audio track and solid suite of supplements, Hanna high definition excursion is worth the price of admission."
Seen by many as the ultimate rags-to-riches film, and one of Al Pacino's best performances, today's Blu-ray release of
Scarface features one of the most memorized (and overly quoted) lines in film history. Everyone knows the end of the film, but there is a lot of substance in its nearly three hour run time that shows the building of one man from a disrespected immigrant into one of the most powerful people in Miami.

Scarface Blu-ray review , "Love it or loathe it, De Palma's crime epic is a tour de force, Stone's script remains one of his most startling, and Pacino's performance holds everything in its orbit. Universal's Blu-ray release captures it all well. Its video transfer has a variety of issues, but stands head and shoulders above its DVD counterpart; its DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 will strike some as overkill, but impresses nonetheless."
While Will Ferrell's last dramatic film
Stranger Than Fiction failed to capture the hearts of general audiences, that didn't stop it from becoming a somewhat fan favorite of the actor. For those wishing for more semi-seriousness from Ferrell, today's Blu-ray release of
Everything Must Go will be right up your alley.

Everything Must Go Blu-ray review , staff reviewer Jeffrey Kaufman commented, "This is an actors' piece above all, and the good news is that Everything Must Go is blessed with uniformly excellent work from both seasoned pros and relative newcomers alike. The film itself is a little sketchy, literally, with not enough detail for us to really get underneath Nick's skin (despite the fine detail of the transfer). But this is still a very compelling little film which casts a very unique spell."
Those of you who can wait until Friday to pick up your weekly grab will be rewarded with the Blu-ray release of
X-Men: First Class. Thankfully, the folks at Fox seemed to have learned from their directorial mistake in
X-Men: The Last Stand and their every-which-way mistake in
X-Men Origins: Wolverine and have put together a film worthy of the X-Men legacy. Look for an official review later this week.
