This December, Image Entertainment will release the Academy Award-winning Adaptation on Blu-ray. The second theatrical collaboration between director Spike Jonze (Where the Wild Things Are) and screenwriter Charlie Kaufman (Synecdoche, New York) mixes fact and fiction to depict Kaufman (Nicolas Cage, Leaving Las Vegas) struggling to adapt Susan Orlean's novel The Orchid Thief for the big-screen.
In addition to Cage (who also plays Kaufman's fictional twin brother Donald), the film co-stars Tilda Swinton (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Ron Livingston (Band of Brothers), Maggie Gyllenhaal (Secretary), Meryl Streep (Doubt) as Orlean, and Chris Cooper (Seabiscuit), who won an Academy Award for his work here as John Laroche, The Orchid Thief's eccentric central character.
Image's Blu-ray presents Adaptation in its original aspect ratio of 1.85:1 with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. While the disc's supplementary specifications have not been confirmed, early reports indicate that the theatrical trailer will accompany the main feature.
Adaptation is expected to street on December 6th.
