One Night Only Collector's Edition 4K Blu-ray

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

The UK branch of StudioCanal (formerly Optimum Home Entertainment) has officially announced that it will release on Blu-ray Francis Ford Coppola's The Conversation (1974). In addition to Apocalypse Now, The Conversation was Coppola's only other film to win the prestigious Palme d'Or at Cannes. Street date is October 31.

This October, Walt Disney Studios will release Winnie the Pooh on Blu-ray. Narrated by John Cleese (Time Bandits) with musical performances from Zooey Deschanel (Surf's Up), the all-new adventure finds author A.A. Milne's beloved creation holding a special contest in the Hundred Acre Wood in order to replace Eeyore's missing tail. The Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack is expected to street on October 25th.

The Rolling Stones: Some Girls Live in Texas 1978 Blu-ray

This November, Eagle Rock Entertainment will bring The Rolling Stones: Some Girls Live in Texas 1978 to Blu-ray. Filmed in Fort Worth, Texas on July 18, 1978, the concert documentary showcased the Stones at their stripped-down best, playing such hits from their Some Girls album as "Beast of Burden," "Shattered," and "Miss You." The Rolling Stones: Some Girls Live in Texas 1978 is expected to street on November 21st.

Manga Home Entertainment will release another sci-fi anime classic from the pen of Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira): Shuhei Morita's Freedom. This limited Collector's Edition release will include all seven episodes of Freedom in HD on one Blu-ray disc plus the series on two DVD discs, as well as a beautifully designed slip cover and bonus set art cards. Street date is October 10th.

Independent British distributors Kaleidoscope Entertainment are set to release on Blu-ray Julian Gilbey's A Lonely Place to Die (2011), starring Melissa George, Ed Speleers, and Sean Harris. Earlier this year, the film was screened at the Cannes Film Market and the Fantasia Festival in Canada. Street date is December 26th.

French distributors TF1 Video have revealed that they are preparing a Blu-ray release of Wes Craven's made for TV film Stranger in Our House a.k.a Summer of Fear (1978), starring Linda Blair (The Exorcist), Lee Purcell, and Jeremy Slate. The preliminary release date set by the distributors is November 15th.

To celebrate the September 27th release date of John Williams' complete 1941 score, La-La Land Records will host a special screening of director Steven Spielberg's 1979 comedy on Sunday, September 25th at Cinefamily's Silent Movie Theatre in Hollywood, California. La-La Land will showcase a rare 35mm print of 1941, and a panel of special guests will hold a Q&A following the screening. Tickets for the event are $10.

BBC Home Entertainment has indicated plans for Doctor Who: Series Six, Part Two and Doctor Who: The Complete Sixth Series Blu-rays this fall. Series Six finds the Doctor, Amy, and Rory learning the truth about River Song in the wake of a shocking death. Doctor Who: Series Six, Part Two and Doctor Who: The Complete Sixth Series's respective street dates are November 8th and November 22nd.

Maniac Cop Blu-ray

This October, Synapse Films will bring Maniac Cop to Blu-ray. Directed by William Lustig (Maniac) the horror film tells the story of a former police officer (Robert Z'dar, Tango & Cash ) butchering innocent civilians in New York City. Co-starring Tom Atkins (Drive Angry) and Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn) as the detectives trying to stop the deranged lawman, Maniac Cop is expected to street on October 11th.

20th Century Fox has announced the Blu-ray release of their 1970 WWII drama Tora! Tora! Tora! The film, which chronicles the attack on Pearl Harbor from both American and Japanese perspectives, will debut in a digibook and feature the extended Japanese cut with 10 additional minutes. A release date of December 6th, 2011 has been confirmed.

California Lawmakers and Amazon Strike Deal on Sales Tax

Amazon shoppers living in California will have at least one more year of tax-free purchases thanks to an agreement made with state legislators yesterday. According to the LA Times, the online retailer agreed to drop its lobbying effort to overturn a new state law in order to ensure their customers will not pay sales taxes until September 2012.

German distributors Concorde Video are set to release two classic Georges Lautner films starring Jean-Paul Belmondo: Flic ou voyou a.k.a Cop or Hood (1979) and Le guignolo (1980). For the week ending 09/04/11, Rio, managed to hold on to the No. 1 spot on the Blu-ray sales chart. The last week before blockbuster Summer 2011 titles start releasing in home video paved the way for the animated film from 20th Century Home Entertainment to claim its fourth weekly Blu-ray sales title. In their fifth week of release, Blu and Linda pecked 33% of their total home video sales from Blu-ray discs.

Netflix Introduces Another Restriction

Following the elimination of its $9.99 per month fee for unlimited streaming and unlimited DVD rentals in July, Netflix has introduced a new restriction for its subscribers - one stream per subscriber. This means that sharing will no longer be possible and streaming customers will have to watch one show at a time - unless they pay more.
