Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Sony Pictures Classics to Distribute Pedro Almodovar's New Film

Sony Pictures Classics has secured the North American distribution rights for Spanish director Pedro Almodovar's So Excited, starring Javier Cámara, Cecilia Roth, and Lola Dueńas. Penélope Cruz, Antonio Banderas and Paz Vega will also contribute to the project. Shooting will begin in July.

Nicolas Roeg's Walkabout Heads to the UK

The UK branch of Universal Studios has revealed that it is planning to release on Blu-ray director Nicolas Roeg's Walkabout (1971), starring Jenny Agutter, David Gulpilil and Luc Roeg. In 1971, the film was nominated for the prestigious Palme d'Or Award at the Cannes Film Festival. Street date is September 10th.

Independent British distributors Verve Pictures have revealed that they are planning to release on Blu-ray director Austrian actor Karl Markovics' (The Counterfeiters) directorial debut Atmen a.k.a Breathing (2011), starring Thomas Schubert, Karin Lischka and Georg Friedrich. The preliminary release date set by the distributors is September 10th.

The high-profile Disney release John Carter scored the top sales figures for the week ending on June 10th. This sci-fi-adventure - Academy Award-winning director Andrew Stanton's reimagining of the Edgar Rice Burroughs-created character - has already become notorious within Hollywood box-office lore; after accruing production costs estimated between $250 million and $350 million, the film only managed a worldwide gross of just over $282 million.
