Avatar 3D Blu-ray Release Date and Pre-order

The wait is over, James Cameron's Avatar will finally get a wider release on 3D Blu-ray this fall. The Avatar 3D Blu-ray release date was just revealed this morning and the North American release is set for October 16, while the global debut is slated for October 15. Previously only available as part of a bundling offer from Panasonic, this will be the first time Avatar 3D Blu-ray is sold in stores and it is available now to pre-order from Amazon for $27.99



"3D television is the future of home entertainment," said Cameron, "I'm a huge proponent of the technology and very pleased that 'Avatar' can be viewed in the living room the way it is meant to be seen."

"As the number of homes with 3D televisions continues to grow, we thought it was important to bring the biggest 3D film ever right into your living room," continued producer Jon Landau, "This is the only way fans should experience the world of Pandora and this release offers the highest picture quality possible."

The two-disc Avatar 3D Blu-ray Collector's Edition will feature the original theatrical release and be available in all-new collectible packaging.
