Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Criterion Blu-ray in November: Godard, Pasolini, Kurosawa, Cimino

The Criterion Collection has announced four titles for Blu-ray release in November. On November 6th, the independent studio will release Rashomon (Akira Kurosawa, 1950). A week later, on November 13th, it will release Weekend (Jean-Luc Godard, 1967) and Trilogy of Life (Pier Paolo Pasolini, 1971-74). On November 20th, it will release Heaven's Gate (Michael Cimino, 1980).

Lionsgate and A+E Networks Become Partners

Lionsgate announced today that it has entered a distribution agreement with A+E Networks. Under the new agreement, Lionsgate will handle home entertainment distribution of content from A&E, History, Biography and Lifetime channels. A+E Networks is a joint venture of Disney-ABC Television Group, Hearst Corporation and NBC Universal.

Sentai Filmworks will release on Blu-ray Japanese director Isao Takahata's Hotaru no Haka a.k.a Grave of the Fireflies (1988). Exact technical specs and supplemental features to be included with this release are unknown at the moment, but the street date set by Sentai Filmworks is November 20th.

German heavy metal veterans U.D.O., led by Udo Dirkschneider, the former vocalist of the legendary Accept, will release Live in Sofia on September 28th. The release, which will include two bonus CDs and will be distributed by AFM Records, will feature material that was filmed in Bulgaria's capital city on the band's "Rev-Raptor Tour".
