Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

For the week ending on September 30th, Walt Disney Home Entertainment's smash hit The Avengers dominated both the overall package media and Blu-ray-only sales charts. The film's small-screen success comes as somewhat of a given - to date, it has grossed over $1.5 billion worldwide, a sum that has made The Avengers the third highest grossing film of all time (not adjusted for inflation).

Disney/Buena Vista is planning to release director Wayne Wang's 1993 drama, The Joy Luck Club, to Blu-ray this December. Based on a novel by Amy Tan, the film has never made its transition to HD until now. Cover art, special features and technical specs have yet to be released. The Joy Luck Club makes its planned Blu-ray debut December 11th.

First up is Universal Studios' highly anticipated Universal Classic Monsters: The Essential Collection box set, which compiles together nine monster movies from the studio's Golden Age. For the most part, the package lives up to the marketing brand of "essential"; the films themselves are iconic representations of genre filmmaking.
