Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Scream Factory and Shout Factory have announced their November batch of releases. They are: The Chow Yun-Fat Collection Volume One, The Family Man (2000), Women in Prison Collection (1971-1985), and The Transformers: The Movie (1986).

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

The Rock 30th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray

Independent distributors Well Go USA have revealed that they are planning to bring to Blu-ray director Ann Hui's A Simple Life (2011), starring Andy Lau, Deannie Yip and Lawrence Ah Mon. The preliminary release date set by the distributors is February 26th.

Blu-ray Sales, December 3-9: The Dark Knight Rises to the Top

Warner Home Entertainment's The Dark Knight Rises topped the Blu-ray-only and overall package media charts for the week that ended on December 9th. Director Christopher Nolan's final entry in his Academy Award-winning Dark Knight trilogy premiered to global acclaim last July - though the film cost an estimated $250 million, it grossed almost $1.1 billion worldwide, with $448 million of that coming from domestic totals.

Anchor Bay and Radius-TWC have signed a multi-year homevideo distribution deal. Radius-TWC is the multiplatform distribution arm of the Weinstein Co. Under the new deal, Anchor Bay will have access to such titles as Bachelorette, Pusher, The Details, Lay The Favorite and Dragon.
