This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Scream Factory and Shout Factory have announced their November batch of releases. They are: The Chow Yun-Fat Collection Volume One, The Family Man (2000), Women in Prison Collection (1971-1985), and The Transformers: The Movie (1986).

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

The Rock 30th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Coming to a Close

Lucasfilm has announced the end of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which recenty wrapped its fifth season with a dramatic cliffhanger. In a press release, Lucasfilm commented, "while the studio is no longer producing new episodes for Cartoon Network, we're continuing production on new Clone Wars story arcs that promise to be some of the most thrilling adventures ever seen."

Warner Bros. Ultimate Gangster Collections, Contemporary and Classic Detailed

Warner Bros. has released updated information on its upcoming Blu-ray sets of The Ultimate Gangster Collections, Contemporary and Classic. The contemporary package includes Mean Streets, Goodfellas, Heat and The Departed, while the classic includes Little Caeser, The Public Enemy, The Petrified Forest and White Heat. Both collections street on May 21st.

Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away Blu-ray (Updated)

Paramount Home Media Distribution has officially announced and detailed its upcoming 2D and 3D Blu-ray releases of Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away. Executive produced by James Cameron and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Andrew Adamson (The Chronicles of Narnia), Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away will be available for purchase on March 12th.

Director Ang Lee took on a formidable task when he elected to adapt Yann Martel's novel of the same name to the big screen. The book, while nominally a fantasy-adventure, concerns itself more with examining notions of faith: how people find faith, how they lose it, and how it tests them.

The UK branch of Universal Studios has revealed that it is planning to add five titles to its Blu-ray catalog in May: Burt Kennedy's The War Wagon (1967), Don Siegel's Two Mules for Sister Sara (1970), John Sturges' Joe Kidd (1972), Stuart Millar's Rooster Cogburn (1975), and Phil Alden Robinson's Sneakers (1992).

Warner and Paramount to Co-Produce and Distribute New Christopher Nolan Film

Pictures announced todat that director Christopher Nolan's latest film, Interstellar, will be be co-produced and distributed by the two studios, with Paramount Pictures handling domestic distribution and Warner Bros. Pictures distributing the film internationally.

Blu-ray Sales, February 25-March 3: Breaking Dawn Breaks Out at Number One

For the week that ended on March 3rd, Summit and Lionsgate Home Entertainment's release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 topped the overall package media and Blu-ray-only rankings. When it premiered theatrically last November, the film grossed over $829 million worldwide (on top of its estimated budget of $120 million), and viewer interest in the Twilight franchise propelled Breaking Dawn: Part 2 to continued home media success.
