The British Film Institute has released a new trailer for the recent 4K restoration of Jean Cocteau's legendary classic film
La Belle et la Bete a.k.a
Beauty and the Beast (1946), starring Jean Marais, Josette Day, and Mila Parély. The new 4K restoration will be released as part of the BFI Gothic season.
The 4K restoration, which was introduced in the Classics section of this year's Cannes Film Festival, was carried out by SNC/Groupe M6 and La Cinémathèque française, with the support of the Franco-American cultural fund.

Synopsis: Jean Cocteau's classic fantasy re-casts the well-known fairy tale. When Beauty's father picks a rose at a deserted castle, a beast in Prince's clothing appears and tells him he must die. He sends the man home to say good-bye to his family, whereupon Beauty offers to take her father's place. She goes off to the castle but instead of killing her, the beast falls in love with her.
