Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Blu-ray Sales: August 9-15: Project Hail Mary Fends Off Mars Attacks! in First Week

For the week that ended on August 15th, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts in its debut. Second place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Mars Attacks!, which was released on 4K UHD this week, while third place went to Warner's own Mortal Kombat II in its third week.

This Week on Blu-ray: August 24-30

For the week of August 24th, Walt Disney Home Entertainment will release Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu on Blu-ray and 4K UHD. Other new releases include Disclosure Day from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, The Sheep Detectives from Alliance Entertainment, Abraham's Boys: A Dracula Story from Shudder, Carolina Caroline from Magnolia Home Entertainment, Reacher: Season Three from Paramount Home Media Distribution, Father Mother Sister Brother from MUBI, Power Ballad from Lionsgate Home Entertainment, The Breadwinner from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and The Audacity: Season 1 from AMC Studios.

The Rock 30th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray

U.S. distributors Kino Video have announced that they will release on Blu-ray Andrew Davis' crime drama The Package (1989), starring Gene Hackman, Tommy Lee Jones, Pam Grier, Dennis Franz, Joanna Cassidy, and John Heard. The release is scheduled to arrive on the U.S. market on December 2.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced the 2-disc 25th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray release of director Tim Burton's Batman (1989), which stars Michael Keaton as the Dark Knight, Jack Nicholson as The Joker, Kim Basinger as Vicki Vale, Pat Hingle as Commissioner Gordon and Michael Gough as Alfred Pennyworth. The film arrives in new Diamond Luxe packaging on November 11th.

Blu-ray Sales, August 4-10: Divergent Rises to the Top

For the week that ended on August 10th, Summit and Lionsgate Home Entertainment's Divergent took the top spot on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media rankings. This film adaptation of author Veronica Roth's bestselling YA novel performed solidly in theaters this year, though it lacked the kind of widespread support that the Hunger Games and Twilight franchises found.

First Look at Revenge of the Green Dragons

U.S. distributors A24 have acquired the distribution rights to directors Andrew Lau and Andrew Loo's crime thriller Revenge of the Green Dragons (2014), starring Justin Chon, Kevin Wu, Harry Shum, Jr., Shuya Chang, Geoff Pierson, Billy Magnussen, and Ray Liotta. The film will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, which will be followed by a wider theatrical release in October.

This past weekend at Otakon, FUNimation dated and revealed several details about the highly anticipated Blu-ray release of Cowboy Bebop: The Complete Series 1998-99). The 26-episode anime series was produced by Studio Sunrise and will be available via standard and Amazon exclusive Premium Edition Blu-ray/DVD combo packs. Both are scheduled to street on December 16th.

Dolby Atmos is ready for Blu-ray. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the legendary sound company has developed all the authoring tools for the studios to dleiver a theatrical Atmos mix for home use. Dolby expects the first Blu-ray titles with Dolby Atmos to arrive on the market this fall.

Los Angeles-based independent distributors XYZ Films have acquired from Nikkatsu the North American distributions rights to Japanese auteurs Sion Sono's Tokyo Tribe (2014) and Takashi Miike's Yakuza Apocalypse: The Great War of the Underworld (2015). Tokyo Tribe will have its international premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
