Warner Archive, in association with Hammer Films, is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Terence Fisher's Dracula (1958), starring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Michael Gough, Melissa Stribling, and Carol Marsh. The releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 27.

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Warner Home Video has announced that they will bring the Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson romantic comedy 'Fool's Gold' to Blu-ray on June 17th, day-and-date with the DVD release. No specs have been announced at this time, but expect to see the usual 1080p VC-1 video presentation accompanied by a Dolby Digital soundtrack.

Image Entertainment has announced that they are bringing the Discovery Channel series 'Human Body: Pushing the Limits' to Blu-ray on July 29th, day-and-date with the DVD release. All four episodes will be presented on a single disc in stunning 1080p high definition along with a Dolby Digital soundtrack.

Sabic Innovative Plastics is currently testing six different optical-quality grades of Noryl for a possible replacement of the polycarbonate used during the production of Blu-ray discs. Because data is written so close to the surface of a Blu-ray disc, it is not required that the material on the surface be transparent, as is the case with current DVD production.

The folks over at Bloody-Disgusting.com recently chatted with writer/director David Goyer regarding the rumor of a re-release for his film 'Dark City'. Goyer revealed that his critically acclaimed film would be receiving a re-release soon, which would include new special effects work and an overall longer cut that required the film to be re-scored.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment was kind enough to send us a screener copy of the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story', due to hit store shelves on April 8th, day-and-date with the DVD release. After updating my PlayStation 3 to be BD-Live (Profile v2.0) compatible, I threw in the disc to check out how the idea of BD-Live has translated to an actual experience.

Video will be presented as 1080p AVC accompanied by a 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced that a trio western films are being released on Blu-ray, all due to hit store shelves on June 10th, just in time for Father's Day. First up is the 1966 Burt Lancaster film 'The Professionals'. Video will be presented as 2.35:1 1080p AVC accompanied by a 5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtrack. Extras include three featurettes ("The Professionals - A Classic", "Burt Lancaster: A Portrait", and "Memories from The Professionals").

In the latest issue of Home Media Magazine, writer John Latchem interviewed Sofia Chang, Senior Vice President of Marketing for HBO Video with regards to the upcoming release of the mini-series 'John Adams' for DVD (no Blu-ray release has been announced at this time). At the conclusion of the interview, he asked when the popular 'Band of Brothers' mini-series would see Blu-ray release. She replied that a version was in the works for release later this year.

Madacy Entertainment in conjunction with The Weather Channel have announced that they will bring 'Epic Conditions' to Blu-ray on May 13th. The two disc release will feature all 15 episodes of the series in stunning high definition. Extra features include 10 episodes of the The Weather Channel's "Weather Ventures" program.

Fox Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring the comedy spoof 'Meet the Spartans' to Blu-ray on June 3rd, day-and-date with the DVD release. The film, which is brought to you by the same people who brought you 'Date Movie' and 'Epic Movie', will be presented in its unrated form on a BD-25. Warner Home Video has announced that they will release the highly anticipated Sci-Fi thriller 'V for Vendetta' for Blu-ray on May 20th. Video will be presented as 2.40:1 1080p VC-1 with 5.1 Dolby Digital audio track (no TrueHD track has been announced at this time). While no extras have been announced at this time, you can expect that all the extras from the previous HD DVD release will fit easily on the BD-50.

Our good friend Bill Hunt from The Digital Bits has gotten some information regarding upcoming Indie releases on Blu-ray. Magnolia Home Entertainment has they will be releasing at least two Blu-ray titles this summer. Coming on June 10th will be the apocalyptic cult film 'The Signal', followed by 'The Life Before Her Eyes' on August 19th. Both dates are tentative and additional titles are currently in the preparation stage.

As we reported earlier, the Blu-ray format has seen a sizable increase in sales since the death of HD DVD, indicating that many consumers were waiting out the format war before fulfilling their high definition needs. When that report was posted, we knew that sales were increasing, but we did not know specifically by how much. Luckily, new data has been issued that provides a clearer picture to recent Blu-ray boost.

Dell has announced that they have added a Blu-ray drive (with reading capability for Blu-ray Discs, and read/write capability for DVDs and CDs) to their award-winning Inspiron line of laptops. More impressive, the Inspiron 1525 with Blu-ray drive will only set consumers back a mere $879. The computer features a 15.4" 720p screen and HDMI output.

Funimation has revealed that they will release 'Shinobi: Heart Under Blade' for Blu-ray on May 13th. Technical specs and special features have not yet been announced for this release. A blockbuster hit in its native Japan, the film will most likely come with both Japanese and English soundtracks, along with English subtitles.

BBC Home Entertainment has announced that they are bringing 'Robin Hood: Season One' to Blu-ray on July 29th. For the first season of the popular UK drama, video will be presented as 1080p VC-1 and accompanied a by Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack. The 13 episodes will be spread over four BD-25s. BluFocus, a company that provides quality control analysis to Blu-ray manufacturers and studios, has announced the release of their Online Reporting System (ORS). The system allows studios, authoring facilities, player manufacturers, and quality assurance testers to submit and track Blu-ray disc playback issues in real time. The system had been used exclusively by BluFocus customers, but is now available for industry-wide support.

New data from HMR Research shows that the 9 million movies have been sold on Blu-ray since inception of the format in the United States, with 3 million of those having been sold during the first 11 weeks of this year. If this trend continues, Blu-ray is poised to sell nearly 15 million units in this year alone.

Late last night, Sony Computer Entertainment released the much anticipated firmware update that enables BD-Live features to be played on the PlayStation 3 (PS3). Once the firmware is downloaded and installed, users will be able to download additional content for titles, as well as access web-based features such as interactive games and community applications.

Video will be presented in 1080p AVC accompanied by a 5.1 DTS HD Master Audio lossless soundtrack. WWE Home Entertainment has announced that they will release 'WrestleMania XXIV' for Blu-ray on May 20th, day-and-date with the DVD release. No specs for the release have been announced at this time, but wrestling fans can expect extras to mirror that of the DVD release. This is the first Blu-ray title from WWE and it will surely not be the last.
