Warner Archive, in association with Hammer Films, is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Terence Fisher's Dracula (1958), starring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Michael Gough, Melissa Stribling, and Carol Marsh. The releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 27.

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Criterion Collection has announced that they have delayed their first wave of Blu-ray releases by about a month. 'Bottle Rocket', 'Chungking Express', 'The Third Man', and 'The Man Who Fell to Earth' have all been delayed until December 16th, while 'The Last Emperor' has been pushed back until January 6th.

At TelcoTV this week in Anaheim, CA, Nortel and RCDb are showing off a new Video Bulletin Board application which allows cell phone users to send images and videos to any BD-Live enabled Blu-ray Disc player. In return, the person receiving the image or video can then use a click-to-call feature so they can call the person who send them the media.

The winners have been announced for the second annual High-Def Disc Awards, and 'The Godfather Collection: The Coppola Restoration' has won "Best of Show" as well as "Best Catalog Blu-ray". The monumental restoration process undertaken for the high definition release was second to none, and critics, recognizing the achievement, have bestowed upon it their highest award.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced that they will host a live BD-Live chat with director Guillermo Del Toro on November 23rd at 6PM PST. Owners of the 'Hellboy II: The Golden Army' Blu-ray only have to place their disc in a BD-Live capable player and connect to Universal's BD-Live server.

Our good friend Bill Hunt is at it again, and today he has more information regarding the upcoming release of the 'Lord of the Rings' films. This bad news is that when Warner delivers the films sometime late next year, they will be of the theatrical versions of the films. The good news is that this decision was made because director Peter Jackson wants to save the extended versions for a super Blu-ray boxset to be released near the theatrical release of 'The Hobbit'.

At a press event for the Blu-ray and DVD release of his latest film 'Hellboy II: The Golden Army', director Guillermo del Toro commented that Lionsgate will soon be announcing a "special Blu-ray edition" of his film 'Cronos'. Today is Veteran's Day in the United States - a day to remember those who have sacrificed for the country by serving in its military. Scott Hettrick of Hollywood in Hi Def has recently posted regarding his experience with 3D Blu-ray after returning from a hands-on demo at Panasonic Hollywood Labs (PHL). As reported by our own Ben Williams, Panasonic's system, which was first showed off at CEATEC in Japan, uses two 1080p streams and special shutter glasses to produce a 3D image.

MGM Home Entertainment has sent over word that their upcoming Blu-ray release of 'This is Spinal Tap' has been delayed from its January 20th release date. While no new release date was given at this time, a press release is forthcoming from the studio. No reason was given for the delay, nor any potential changes to the release.

George Feltenstein, Senior Vice President of Warner Home Video has revealed that 'Gone with the Wind' and 'The Wizard of Oz' will both see release in 2009. He also revealed that these two titles will make use of BD-Live technology to provide even more content for these two classics. Additionally, Felenstein mentioned that 'An American in Paris' and 'A Star is Born' are currently being cleaned-up for a high definition release.
