Sony to Join Games and Movies on Blu-ray

Exercising the huge disc capacity advantage PS3 has over the competition, Sony will, later this year, release video game and movie hybrid discs that will contain both a film and a video game based on the film. As gamers are well aware, film property is often licensed for video game adaptations, and Sony's idea would marry the two entertainment mediums together.
John Koller, Director of Hardware Marketing for the PS3, commented, "We are actively pushing, and the way that we see the future is that the movie and the game are placed on the same disc. There are a lot of developers who say, we have this game based on a movie, wouldn't it be great to marry these concepts? We will definitely see this stuff this year."
While this would be the first instance of a game and movie coming on the same disc, it would not be the first time a game and movie have been sold together. Notable for the Blu-ray crowd was the Collector's Edition release of 'Stranglehold' which included a Blu-ray release of 'Hard Boiled'. As of today, buying the game is the only way to watch 'Hard Boiled' on Blu-ray.
