Warner Archive, in association with Hammer Films, is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Terence Fisher's Dracula (1958), starring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Michael Gough, Melissa Stribling, and Carol Marsh. The releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 27.

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Well Go USA has announced the release of the Russian war movie 9th Company (9 Rota) on Standard and Collector's Edition Blu-ray on August 31. This film (winner of the Best Picture award from the Russian Academy of Cinema Arts) tracks a year in the lives of a group of young Soviet soldiers drafted to serve in Afghanistan during the final stage of the conflict.

Second Sight Films has announced the Blu-ray release of Picnic at Hanging Rock in the UK for July 26. This acclaimed Australian film, directed by Peter Weir in 1975, will be presented in its 107-minute director's cut (one of the rare instances in film history where a director's cut is shorter than the theatrical cut).

Eagle Rock Entertainment has announced the Blu-ray release on August 30 of Jane's Addiction: Live Voodoo, the first ever Jane's Addiction live visual release. Filmed live on Halloween night 2009 at Voodoo Experience in New Orleans, Live Voodoo sees the reunion of the classic Jane's Addiction line-up of Perry Farrell (vocals), Stephen Perkins (drums), Eric Avery (bass) and Dave Navarro (guitar).

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced the release of two documentaries for Blu-ray release within its Disneynature label: Oceans and The Crimson Wing: Mystery of the Flamingos. Both will be available as Blu-ray/DVD combo packs on October 19. For every purchase of Oceans during release week, Disneynature will make a contribution to help protect coral reefs.

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced Date Night for release on August 10. The Blu-ray edition of this action comedy, starring Steve Carell and Tinay Fey, will feature an all-new extended version of the film with "never-before-seen hilarious footage." Sony Electronics has made available a new firmware version for Blu-ray player models BDP-S470 and BDP-S570. Improvements added with this new firmware prominently include include "support for 3D content." The addition of this feature is timed to coincide with the launch of Sony's 3D HDTVs and its first 3D Blu-ray, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced the release of the first Blu-ray 3D title to be sold individually in the US: the CG animated adventure Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. It will be available "at select retailers" from June 22 (yes, less than two weeks from now), timed with the upcoming launch of Sony Electronics' 3D capable HDTVs and Blu-ray players.

Tim Burton's reimagining of Alice in Wonderland was the top-selling title on Blu-ray during the week ended June 6, according to Nielsen VideoScan. Alice outsold runner-up The Wolfman by more than five to one, and got a remarkable 37% of its total sales from Blu-ray (although the highest BD market share was for the BBC documentary Life, with a whopping 54%). Update: sales figures added.

The latest album by Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Mojo, will be released on June 29 on audio Blu-ray, two weeks after the CD. The BD will contain all 15 tracks from Mojo in high-resolution stereo LPCM (at 24 bits and 48kHz), and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround. It is an audio-only disc, with basic navigation and song information displayed on screen; a screensaver switches to non-static images of the cover art 30 seconds after each song begins. Update: listening option added.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced two catalog titles for release on Blu-ray on September 14: Mercury Rising and Unleashed (also known as Danny the Dog). Both will come out on single-sided BD50 discs. Unleashed will include both the R-rated and the unrated cuts (unlike the 2006 release on the defunct HD DVD format).

Summit Entertainment has announced that it will release the Roman Polanski-directed thriller The Ghost Writer on August 3, on a "single-disc DVD/Blu-ray combo." This is the first time a new release is coming out on this two-sided, two-format disc presentation.

Warner Home Video has announced three double-feature Blu-ray titles for release on September 14. Two of them belong squarely in the family genre: A Cinderella Story / Another Cinderella Story and Shiloh / Saving Shiloh (for some reason, Shiloh 2: Shiloh Season got skipped over). The third one is somewhat more action-oriented: the Van Damme double feature Bloodsport / Timecop.

The Criterion Collection has posted a note on its website informing that they have been alerted to a manufacturing problem with the Blu-ray edition of Nicolas Roeg's Walkabout, which affects playback on "a limited number of players." Replacement copies will be made available soon.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment confirmed that it will be bringing the first Blu-ray 3D SKU to market "early this summer" with Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 3D. The first day-and-date Blu-ray 3D release from the studio will be Resident Evil: Afterlife (which opens theatrically in the US in September).

The animated feature The Secret of Kells will be released on Blu-ray on October 5, in a BD/DVD combo pack. Set in medieval Ireland, this film received praise (and a surprise Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature) because of its unconventional look, inspired in art from the Early Middle Ages.

The eagerly-awaited 1985 adventure movie The Goonies will finally be released on November 2 in a 25th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition Blu-ray, with a wealth of memorabilia, including a new board game, collectible storyboard prints, a 1985 souvenir magazine with behind-the-scenes stories about the actual filming in Astoria, Oregon, and a reprint of a 2009 article with updates of the entire cast, as well as producer Steven Spielberg and director Richard Donner.

Toshiba Corporation today announced the introduction of the notebook PC model dynabook TX/98MBL, the industry's first laptop to feature playback of 3D content in the Blu-ray 3D format, using active-shutter glasses. It will be available from the end of July in the Japanese market. No price has been announced yet.
