One Night Only Collector's Edition 4K Blu-ray

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Official Trailer for The Descendants

Fox Searchlight and Apple have just released the final theatrical trailer for The Descendants. Director Alexander Payne's first full-length feature since the Academy Award-winning Sideways, the film stars George Clooney (Michael Clayton) as a suburban dad whose life changes in unexpected ways after his wife slips into a coma. Already a potential Oscar favorite, The Descendants' scheduled U.S. release date is November 18th.

Life in a Day Blu-ray

National Geographic Entertainment will release on Blu-ray director Kevin Macdonald's documentary Life in a Day (2011). The film, which was born out of a unique partnership between Ridley Scott's Scott Free UK and YouTube, had its premiere earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival. Street date is November 8th.

The Whistleblower Blu-ray

German distributors Universum Film have revealed that they will release on Blu-ray Canadian director Larysa Kondracki's first feature film The Whistleblower (2010), starring Rachel Weisz, Vanessa Redgrave, Monica Bellucci, Nikolaj Lie Kaas, and David Strathairn. Last year, the film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Street date is January 2.

Captain Jack is back, but this time without the real captain of the ship – director Gore Verbinski – who took the helm for the first three films in the series. For Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Disney selected director Rob Marshall (of Chicago and Memoirs of a Geisha fame) to drive the ship, and fortunately, he didn't run aground.

Writer/director John Michael McDonagh's crime comedy stars Brendan Gleeson (Green Zone) as an iconoclastic Irish policeman who teams up with a straight-laced FBI officer (Don Cheadle, Out of Sight) in order to solve a series of drug-related homicides. Zoe Saldana (The Losers) stars as a skilled assassin who moonlights as a vigilante avenger as a means of tracking down the mobster who ordered her parents' deaths. The Criterion Collection has announced four titles for Blu-ray release in January. On January 17th, the independent studio will release Belle de jour (Luis Buñuel, 1967) and Traffic (Steven Soderbergh, 2000). A week later, on January 24th it will release The Moment of Truth (Francesco Rosi, 1964) and Godzilla (Ishiro Honda, 1954).

German distributors Koch Entertainment are set to release on Blu-ray Barbet Schroeder's Barfly (1987), starring Mickey Rourke and Faye Dunaway. The film, which was made by Cannon Films and Francis Ford Coppola's Zoetrope Studios, is a semi-autobiography of legendary beat poet, writer, and anarchist Charles Bukowski. Street date is December 2.
