For sales week ending 12/11/2011,
The Hangover Part II laughed its way to the top of the Blu-ray sales chart. Albeit not as funny nor as original as the first installement, the wolfpack still attracted plenty of HD disc buyers in its home video bow. Coming off an amazing theatrical run which includes a worlwide box office total of $581 million, the raunchy comedy raked 44% of its package sales from Blu-ray Discs. For a quick comparison,
The Hangover launched in December 2009 and achieved 24% of its first week disc sales from Blu-ray buyers.
The No. 2 spot on the Blu-ray sales chart was lassoed by
Cowboys & Aliens. Although, the movie fell short in terms of box office and fan expectations, it was well received by Blu-ray collectors.
Cowboys & Aliens generated 55% of all its package media sales from the HD format.
