Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

DreamWorks Animation, which recently signed a new five-year distribution deal with 20th Century Fox Entertainment, has revealed an ambitious release date slate through the middle of 2016. The studio is planning to release an unprecedented three films per year - with the only exception being 2015, when the studio will have four films.

Amazon's Blu-ray Deal of the Week affects films from the Resident Evil series. The Resident Evil horror franchise examines an Earth under the thrall of the Umbrella Corporation, a multi-national pharmaceutical company that undertakes unethical - and dangerous - chemical testing and genetic engineering. Through September 15th, Amazon is offering selected Resident Evil Blu-ray sets for 50% and 65% of their standard MSRPs.

Well Go USA Acquires Dangerous Liaisons

Well Go USA Entertainment has acquired the U.S. rights to Chinese-Korean director Hur Jin-Ho's Dangerous Liaisons (2012), a lavish new adaptation of the popular novel by French writer Pierre Choderlos de Laclos. The film will have its North American premiere this coming Monday at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Entertainment One Buys Alliance Films

Canadian producer and distributor Entertainment One has acquired Alliance Films, which has the rights for such popular films as The Hunger Games, the award-winning The King's Speech and Exotica. The deal makes Entertainment One the largest independent distributor in Canada and the United Kingdom.

Nostalgia for the Light Blu-ray

British distributors New Wave Films will release on Blu-ray Patricio Guzman's documentary Nostalgia for the Light. In 2010, the film won Best Documentary Grand Prix at the European Film Awards and Francois Chalais Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. It also appeared on the Sight & Sound Top 10 Best Movies of 2010 list.

While The Avengers 2D and 3D releases are still scheduled to storm Blu-ray on September 25, 2012, Disney has officially delayed the release of the 10-disc Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One - Avengers Assembled Collection box set. A new date has yet to be set for the release of the six-movie bundle, but Disney estimates it will arrive in Spring 2013 with new packaging and, more importantly, additional content and features.
