Scream Factory and Shout Factory Announce November Releases

Scream Factory and Shout Factory have announced their November batch of releases. They are: The Chow Yun-Fat Collection Volume One, The Family Man (2000), Women in Prison Collection (1971-1985), and The Transformers: The Movie (1986).

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Blu-ray Sales: August 9-15: Project Hail Mary Fends Off Mars Attacks! in First Week

For the week that ended on August 15th, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts in its debut. Second place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Mars Attacks!, which was released on 4K UHD this week, while third place went to Warner's own Mortal Kombat II in its third week.

This Week on Blu-ray: August 24-30

For the week of August 24th, Walt Disney Home Entertainment will release Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu on Blu-ray and 4K UHD. Other new releases include Disclosure Day from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, The Sheep Detectives from Alliance Entertainment, Abraham's Boys: A Dracula Story from Shudder, Carolina Caroline from Magnolia Home Entertainment, Reacher: Season Three from Paramount Home Media Distribution, Father Mother Sister Brother from MUBI, Power Ballad from Lionsgate Home Entertainment, The Breadwinner from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and The Audacity: Season 1 from AMC Studios.

The Rock 30th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray

Twentieth Century Studios plans to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Michael Bay's The Rock (1996) with a new combo pack release, which is expected to arrive on the market before the end of the year.

Dead Poets Society 4K Blu-ray

20th Century Studios is preparing a combo pack release of Peter Weir's Dead Poets Society (1989), starring Robin Williams, Robert Sean Leonard, Ethan Hawke, Josh Charles, and Gale Hansen. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on September 29.

Assault on Precinct 13: Collector's Edition Blu-ray

Scream Factory, the horror-thriller offshoot of independent film distributor Shout Factory, has revealed the newly-designed key art for their upcoming Collector's Edition of director John Carpenter's classic action thriller Assault on Precinct 13 (1976), starring Austin Stoker, Darwin Joston, and Laurie Zimmer. The release is expected to arrive on the U.S. market in November.

Batman and Superman Team Up

Warner Brothers announced at Comi-Con that Zack Snyder will direct a new film that will team up Batman and Superman. According to early reports, Henry Cavill will be back in this upcoming project to play Clark Kent. The film is expected to arrive in U.S cinemas in 2015.

This is the End Gets UK Release Date

The UK branch of Sony Pictures has revealed that it plans to release a Double Play edition of Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen's comedy This Is the End (2013), starring James Franco, Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, Danny McBride, Emma Watson, Michael Cera, and Rihanna. The preliminary release date set by the studio is November 4th.

For the week of July 23rd, Criterion is bringing The Ice Storm to Blu-ray; Ang Lee's darkly funny and very subtle drama remains a lacerating portrait of suburban America. Other releases include two from James McAvoy - the actioner Welcome to the Punch and the twisty thriller Trance - Francis Ford Coppola's Twixt, and a new Blu-ray of Paul Newman and Stuart Rosenberg's cult political melodrama WUSA.

Riddick: Red Band Trailer

Universal Studios has debuted a new red band trailer for director David Twohy's Riddick, which stars Vin Diesel, Karl Urban, Katee Sackhoff, Dave Bautista, Noah Danby, Nolan Gerard Funk, Jordi Mollà and Bokeem Woodbine. Nicolas Winding Refn Visits the Criterion Collection

The folks at Criterion have released a video showing director Nicolas Winding Refn visiting their office and picking up some of his favorite films from the now rather famous DVD/Blu-ray room. The Danish director's latest film, Only God Forgives (2013), which was recently screened at the Cannes Film Festival, became available for pre-order at Amazon earlier today.

Venice to Showcase New Short Films From 70 Acclaimed Directors

The British Film Institute has officially announced that it will release a Dual Format Edition of Lotte Reiniger's Die Abenteuer des Prinzen Achmed a.k.a The Adventures of Prince Achmed (1926). The release will come with with a newly recorded narration and the original orchestral score, along with a selection of short films and an illustrated booklet.

Paramount Home Entertainment has announced the Blu-ray edition of Dexter: The Final Season, and revealed two different Complete Series releases in display-ready packaging: a boxed Collection set and an Exclusive Gift Set. All three contain the eighth and final season, and the two Complete Series sets feature an exclusive bonus disc with more than three hours of extras and an art book. Street date is November 5th.

Eagle Rock Entertainment to Kick Off SD Blu-ray Series

This summer, Eagle Rock Entertainment will release four programs as Standard Definition Blu-rays: Bee Gees One Night Only, Scorpions Moment Of Glory, Rolling Stones Stones in Exile, and Pink Floyd Classic Albums – The Making Of Dark Side Of The Moon. Originally released on standard definition DVDs, these films are upscaled versions of the original material, with uncompressed stereo and DTS-HD Master Audio surround sound.

IMAX Corporation and Summit Entertainment announced today that Divergent, the big-screen adaptation of Veronica Roth's bestselling novel, will be remastered into IMAX and released worldwide on Mar 21, 2014. Divergent is the first installment in a sci-fi trilogy that is shot in Roth's home city of Chicago.
