Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Blu-ray Sales: August 9-15: Project Hail Mary Fends Off Mars Attacks! in First Week

For the week that ended on August 15th, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts in its debut. Second place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Mars Attacks!, which was released on 4K UHD this week, while third place went to Warner's own Mortal Kombat II in its third week.

This Week on Blu-ray: August 24-30

For the week of August 24th, Walt Disney Home Entertainment will release Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu on Blu-ray and 4K UHD. Other new releases include Disclosure Day from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, The Sheep Detectives from Alliance Entertainment, Abraham's Boys: A Dracula Story from Shudder, Carolina Caroline from Magnolia Home Entertainment, Reacher: Season Three from Paramount Home Media Distribution, Father Mother Sister Brother from MUBI, Power Ballad from Lionsgate Home Entertainment, The Breadwinner from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and The Audacity: Season 1 from AMC Studios.

20th Century Studios is preparing a combo pack release of Peter Weir's Dead Poets Society (1989), starring Robin Williams, Robert Sean Leonard, Ethan Hawke, Josh Charles, and Gale Hansen. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on September 29.

For the week of August 20th, Twentieth Century Fox is releasing Epic, the fun, sprightly adaptation of William Joyce's The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs. Other releases include Season Three of HBO's Boardwalk Empire, the Academy Award-winning Amour, Mark Steven Johnson and Evan Daugherty's Killing Season, the slasher No One Lives, and the fifth installment in the Scary Movie franchise.

The Message & Lion of the Desert Blu-rays

Anchor Bay Entertainment and Trancas International Films have announced the Classic Collector's Edition Blu-ray releases of Moustapha Akkad's The Message (1976), starring Anthony Quinn and Irene Papas, and Lion of the Desert (1980), starring Quinn and Oliver Reed. Each historical epic makes its U.S. high definition debut on November 12th.

Darkman Collector's Edition Blu-ray

Scream Factory, the horror-thriller offshoot of independent film distributor Shout Factory, will release a Collector's Edition Blu-ray of director Sam Raimi's Darkman (1990), starring Liam Neeson, Frances McDormand, and Colin Friels. The release is set to arrive on the U.S. market this December.

Sony Pictures Classics has acquired the North American distribution rights to director Bennett Miller's latest project Foxcatcher (2013), starring Channing Tatum, Steve Carell, and Mark Ruffalo. The studio plans to have the film in North American theaters on December 20th.

For the week that ended on August 11th, Universal Studios scored a win on both the Blu-ray-only and overall home media charts with its release of Oblivion. The twisty, visually stunning film struggled somewhat in theaters last April, overcoming a lukewarm critical reception to make back its estimated $120 million production budget.

After offering fans an extensive preview of the series' second season at the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con, Paramount and Nickelodeon have released a "First Look" trailer for The Legend of Korra - Book Two: Spirits, which makes its television debut on Friday, September 13th. With the successful Blu-ray release of Book One: Air, a Blu-ray edition of Book Two: Spirits is already expected to arrive sometime in 2014.

Criterion Announces November Titles

The Criterion Collection has announced four titles for Blu-ray release in November: On November 12th, the studio will release Noah Baumbach's Frances Ha (2013) and Charlie Chaplin's City Lights (1931). On November 19th, the studio will release Yasujiro Ozu's Tokyo Story (1953). And on November 26th, the studio will release Zatoichi: The Blind Swordsman, a box-set containing 25 films featuring the legendary samurai warrior.
