Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Blu-ray Sales: August 9-15: Project Hail Mary Fends Off Mars Attacks! in First Week

For the week that ended on August 15th, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts in its debut. Second place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Mars Attacks!, which was released on 4K UHD this week, while third place went to Warner's own Mortal Kombat II in its third week.

This Week on Blu-ray: August 24-30

For the week of August 24th, Walt Disney Home Entertainment will release Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu on Blu-ray and 4K UHD. Other new releases include Disclosure Day from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, The Sheep Detectives from Alliance Entertainment, Abraham's Boys: A Dracula Story from Shudder, Carolina Caroline from Magnolia Home Entertainment, Reacher: Season Three from Paramount Home Media Distribution, Father Mother Sister Brother from MUBI, Power Ballad from Lionsgate Home Entertainment, The Breadwinner from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and The Audacity: Season 1 from AMC Studios.

The Rock 30th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray

20th Century Studios is preparing a combo pack release of Peter Weir's Dead Poets Society (1989), starring Robin Williams, Robert Sean Leonard, Ethan Hawke, Josh Charles, and Gale Hansen. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on September 29.

In addition to the various Lightning and Black Friday deals scheduled for this week, Amazon is holding its standard Deals of the Week sales. Amazon's Blu-ray-related Deals of the Week affect selected movie and TV sets from Warner, New Line, and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, including The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. Through November 30th, Amazon is offering each Blu-ray for 52% - 77% off its standard MSRP.

Interview: "Homefront" author Chuck Logan

Chuck Logan is a seasoned author who's published nine books, with the majority of them devoted to the exploits of Phil Broker, an undercover cop from the far, snowy reaches of Minnesota. The force of justice and devoted father is about to receive his first big screen adaptation with "Homefront" (opening November 27th), a Sylvester Stallone-scripted action film starring Jason Statham as Broker. Recently, Blu-ray.com critic Brian Orndorf had the opportunity to sit down with Logan to discuss his experience with "Homefront" and his future plans for publishing as the e-book revolution grows.

Tsui Hark's Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon Gets U.S. Release Date

Texas-based distributors Well Go USA have revealed that they are planning to bring to Blu-ray veteran Hong Kong director Tsui Hark's latest film Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon (2013), a 3D prequel to the blockbuster Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame (2010). The preliminary release date set by the distributors is February 11th.

Frank Capra's It's A Wonderful Life to Receive Widest Ever UK Re-Release

UK distributors Park Circus have announced that they will screen director Frank Capra's It's A Wonderful Life digitally at over 200 cinemas across the UK this December. In addition to over one hundred independent cinemas, the film will screen at all Cineworld, Picturehouse and Everyman cinemas in the run up to Christmas.

Scream Factory, the horror-thriller offshoot of independent film distributor Shout Factory, has confirmed that it plans to bring to Blu-ray director Robert Clouse's horror film Deadly Eyes a.k.a The Rats (1982), starring Sam Groom, Sara Botsford, Scatman Crothers, Cec Linder, and Lisa Langlois. The release is expected to arrive on the U.S. market in early spring next year.

This gritty retelling of the Superman story did solid business for the studio this past summer. Though its critical notices weren't great, the film grossed over $662 million worldwide.
