Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Blu-ray Sales: August 9-15: Project Hail Mary Fends Off Mars Attacks! in First Week

For the week that ended on August 15th, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts in its debut. Second place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Mars Attacks!, which was released on 4K UHD this week, while third place went to Warner's own Mortal Kombat II in its third week.

This Week on Blu-ray: August 24-30

For the week of August 24th, Walt Disney Home Entertainment will release Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu on Blu-ray and 4K UHD. Other new releases include Disclosure Day from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, The Sheep Detectives from Alliance Entertainment, Abraham's Boys: A Dracula Story from Shudder, Carolina Caroline from Magnolia Home Entertainment, Reacher: Season Three from Paramount Home Media Distribution, Father Mother Sister Brother from MUBI, Power Ballad from Lionsgate Home Entertainment, The Breadwinner from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and The Audacity: Season 1 from AMC Studios.

20th Century Studios is preparing a combo pack release of Peter Weir's Dead Poets Society (1989), starring Robin Williams, Robert Sean Leonard, Ethan Hawke, Josh Charles, and Gale Hansen. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on September 29.

BBC Home Entertainment has detailed the Blu-ray release of creators Graeme Manson and John Fawcett's Orphan Black: Season Two. The hit Canadian sci-fi series is a part of BBC America's Supernatural Saturday block and stars Tatiana Maslany (in multiple roles), Jordan Gavaris, Dylan Bruce, Maria Doyle Kennedy and Michael Mando. Season Two streets on June 24th.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has officially announced the Blu-ray release of executive producer Christopher Nolan and director Wally Pfister's Transcendence, starring Johnny Depp, Paul Bettany, Rebecca Hall, Kate Mara, Morgan Freeman and Cillian Murphy. The science fiction thriller arrives on Blu-ray/DVD/UltraViolet combo pack on July 22nd.

Entertainment One is bringing Haven: The Complete Fourth Season to Blu-ray. Based on Stephen King's novel "The Colorado Kid," the American/Canadian supernatural series is set in the small, fictional town of Haven, Maine where strange happenings are a regular occurrence. Josh Brolin Cast as Marvel's Thanos

Earlier today, multiple sources confirmed Josh Brolin has been cast as Avengers villain Thanos. The actor is reportedly set to appear both in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy this August and, in some capacity, Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age of Ultron in May 2015, as well as future Marvel films. Disney and Marvel Studios have yet to make a formal announcement, but a press release is expected soon.

Aniplex of America has announced the Blu-ray release of Kill la Kill: Volume 1, which features the series' first four episodes and arrives via standard and Limited Edition Blu-ray/DVD sets. Produced by Studio Trigger and directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi (FLCL, Dead Leaves, Gurren Lagann), Kill la Kill makes its North American Blu-ray debut on July 15th.

In November 2012, with a team of 3D cameras rolling, the legendary, multi-platinum selling rock band Guns N' Roses took the desert by storm, performing a blistering set at The Joint in the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas. Clocking in at just under three hours, the band's explosive set includes all of their biggest hits and classic GNR staples. Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) will release the live Guns N' Roses concert film Appetite For Democracy 3D: Live at the Hard Rock Casino - Las Vegas, on July 1, 2014, which will be available in North America on Blu-ray.

Chicago-based distributors Music Box Films have revealed that they are planning to bring to Blu-ray director Arnaud des Palličres's Michael Kohlhaas a.k.a. Age of Uprising: The Legend of Michael Kohlhaas (2013), starring Mads Mikkelsen, Bruno Ganz, Denis Lavant, Sergi Lopez, Mélusine Mayance, and Delphine Chuillot. The preliminary release date set by the distributors is August 26th.

Scream Factory: Tales From the Crypt (1972), Vault of Horror, and The Doctor and the Devils Heading to Blu-ray

Scream Factory, the horror-thriller offshoot of independent film distributor Shout Factory, has revealed that it plans to release on Blu-ray Freddie Francis' Tales From the Crypt (1972), Roy Ward Baker's Vault of Horror (1973), and Freddie Francis' The Doctor and the Devils (1985). These releases are expected to arrive on the U.S. market later this year.

'Visitors' Director Godfrey Reggio: Exclusive Interview

Godfrey Reggio burst upon the film scene in 1982 with Koyaanisqatsi, one of the most revolutionary documentaries of all time. Reggio followed up that film with two related films. Visitors is his latest film, which will street on Blu-ray on June 14 from Cinedigm. Blu-ray.com staff reviewer Jeffrey Kauffman interviewed Reggio by phone about Reggio's life, work and collaboration with composer Philip Glass.

New Stargate Reboot / Feature Film Trilogy Announced

MGM and Warner Bros. Pictures have announced a partnership with Roland Emmerich and Dean Delvin to launch a new feature film trilogy that reimagines the 1994 sci-fi film, Stargate. Emmerich, who directed and co-wrote the original film with Devlin, is confirmed to direct and Devlin will produce. A release date or window has yet to be set.

The Normal Heart Blu-ray

HBO Home Entertainment is bringing director Ryan Murphy and writer Larry Kramer's The Normal Heart to Blu-ray this summer. The HBO original film is based on Kramer's 1985 stage play of the same name and stars Mark Ruffalo, Matt Bomer, Jim Parsons, Taylor Kitsch, Julia Roberts, Alfred Molina and Corey Stoll. The Normal Heart streets on August 26th.
