Blu-ray Sales: August 9-15: Project Hail Mary Fends Off Mars Attacks! in First Week

For the week that ended on August 15th, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts in its debut. Second place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Mars Attacks!, which was released on 4K UHD this week, while third place went to Warner's own Mortal Kombat II in its third week.

This Week on Blu-ray: August 24-30

For the week of August 24th, Walt Disney Home Entertainment will release Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu on Blu-ray and 4K UHD. Other new releases include Disclosure Day from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, The Sheep Detectives from Alliance Entertainment, Abraham's Boys: A Dracula Story from Shudder, Carolina Caroline from Magnolia Home Entertainment, Reacher: Season Three from Paramount Home Media Distribution, Father Mother Sister Brother from MUBI, Power Ballad from Lionsgate Home Entertainment, The Breadwinner from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and The Audacity: Season 1 from AMC Studios.

The Rock 30th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray

U.S. label Shout Factory has announced that it will add one more title to its Blu-ray catalog in April: acclaimed dierctor Volker Schlöndorff's drama The Handmaid's Tale (1990), starring Natasha Richardson, Faye Dunaway, Aidan Quinn, Elizabeth McGovern, and Victoria Tennant. The release will be available for purchase on April 18.

The latest action-adventure blockbuster in the Marvel Cinematic Universe stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mads Mikkelsen, Tilda Swinton, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Michael Stuhlbarg, Benjamin Bratt and Scott Adkins, and is being released by way of two Blu-ray combo packs: a 3D/Blu-ray/DVD/Digital HD Cinematic Universe Edition and a Blu-ray/DVD/Digital HD standard edition set.

Acorn Media has announced the Blu-ray release of The Brokenwood Mysteries: Series 3. Neill Rea stars in the lead role of Detective Inspector Mike Shepherd while Fern Sutherland plays Detective Constable Kristin Sims. The third series features four ninety-minute murder mysteries and arrives on Blu-ray on March 21st.

Paramount Pictures has sent us a brand new official U.S. trailer for director F. Javier Gutiérrez's new film Rings (2016), starring Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe, Johnny Galecki, Aimee Teegarden, Bonnie Morgan and Vincent D'Onofrio. The film was previously set to open in U.S theaters on October 28, but now it will have its premiere nationwide premiere on February 3.

Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk 4K Blu-ray

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced the Blu-ray release of director Ang Lee's Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, which stars Joe Alwyn, Kristen Stewart, Vin Diesel, Garrett Hedlund, Steve Martin and Chris Tucker. In an industrywide first, the 4K presentation of the film is displayed at 60 frames per second (FPS), versus the standard 24 FPS, offering a first-of-its-kind, unique, and immersive viewing experience. The 4K Ultra HD (with 3D) and standard Blu-ray combo pack releases of the film arrive on February 14th.
