For the week that ended on October 17th, Alliance Entertainment's
Project Hail Mary, which saw a new release this week, adding a second 4K UHD disc with the film in its IMAX 1.43:1 aspect ratio, as well as a Blu-ray disc of additional extras, topped the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media in its "debut". The adaptation of Andy Weir's novel of the same name opened in March 2026 to critical acclaim and financial success, topping the box office for its first two weeks en route to over $344 million domestically and over $684 million globally. This week,
Project Hail Mary had an HD share of 95% and 91% of units sold from the 4K UHD format, enough to again make it the week's top 4K UHD release.
Rising up to second place on the Blu-ray-only chart in its sixth week on shelves is Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's
Supergirl (2026). The latest live-action DC Comics film opened in June 2026 to mixed reviews and poor box office, grossing just over $72 million domestically and only about $126 million worldwide (on a reported budget of more than $170 million, before any promotion) to become a box office bomb. This week,
Supergirl sold 19% as many Blu-ray units as
Project Hail Mary, but with a strong HD share of 82% and 69% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
And rising back up to third place in its fourth week is Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's
Evil Dead Burn. The latest entry in the long-running horror franchise is a sequel to the surprise hit
Evil Dead Rise, and like its predecessor did in 2023, it received generally positive reviews when it opened in July 2026. Financially, the film also did well, grossing over $32 million domestically and over $72 million globally against a reported $20 million budget. This week,
Evil Dead Burn sold 14% as many Blu-ray units as
Project Hail Mary, but again with a strong HD share of 81% and 67% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Elsewhere on the charts, Lionsgate Home Entertainment's
Rob Zombie's Firefly Trilogy (2003-2019), which was released on 4K UHD this week and featured the 4K UHD premiere of
House of 1000 Corpses, came in at No. 6 on the Blu-ray-only chart, while
The Last Boy Scout, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video this week, came in at No. 7 and Shout Factory's
Hostel / Hostel: Part II (2005-2007), another box set upgraded to 4K UHD this week, came in at No. 8.
Outside the top ten on the 4K UHD chart, Severin Films'
The Autopsy of Jane Doe 4K came in at No. 13.
