Blu-ray Sales: August 9-15: Project Hail Mary Fends Off Mars Attacks! in First Week

For the week that ended on August 15th, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts in its debut. Second place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Mars Attacks!, which was released on 4K UHD this week, while third place went to Warner's own Mortal Kombat II in its third week.

This Week on Blu-ray: August 24-30

For the week of August 24th, Walt Disney Home Entertainment will release Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu on Blu-ray and 4K UHD. Other new releases include Disclosure Day from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, The Sheep Detectives from Alliance Entertainment, Abraham's Boys: A Dracula Story from Shudder, Carolina Caroline from Magnolia Home Entertainment, Reacher: Season Three from Paramount Home Media Distribution, Father Mother Sister Brother from MUBI, Power Ballad from Lionsgate Home Entertainment, The Breadwinner from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and The Audacity: Season 1 from AMC Studios.

The Rock 30th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray

Twentieth Century Studios plans to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Michael Bay's The Rock (1996) with a new combo pack release, which is expected to arrive on the market before the end of the year.

First Look at New 4K Restoration of Andrei Tarkovsky's The Sacrifice

Kino Repertory have provided us with an official domestic trailer for the recent 4K restoration of acclaimed director Andrei Tarkovsky's final film The Sacrifice (1986), starring Susan Fleetwood, Allan Edwall, Erland Josephson, Sven Wollter, and Guðrún Gísladóttir. The restoration will open on October 20 at the Film Society of Lincoln Center and October 27 at the Quad Cinema, before expanding to select cities.

Blu-ray Sales, September 24-30: Transformers Fight Wonder Woman

For the week that ended on September 30th, Paramount Home Media Distribution's Transformers: The Last Knight debuted at the top of the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media charts. Director Michael Bay's latest action extravaganza struggled to connect with viewers, scored very poor critical marks and grossing $130 million domestically on top of its estimated $217-million production budget.
