Warner Archive, in association with Hammer Films, is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Terence Fisher's Dracula (1958), starring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Michael Gough, Melissa Stribling, and Carol Marsh. The releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 27.

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Coming in both two-disc and three-disc configurations, with the three-disc set featuring a bonus digital copy of the film.

Sony Pictures/Music and Universal Studios/Music have jointly announced that they will soon launch a line of entertainment vending machines which they are calling "PoP". The machines, which look similar to other vending machines, will be filled with DVDs, and of course, Blu-rays of the latest films from the studios.

In an early announcement to retailers, Fox Home Entertainment has revealed that they will bring 11 of their best selling catalog titles to Blu-ray early next year. As these are unofficial announcements, technical specs and special features have yet to be confirmed, but we can very least assume these titles will receive the typical Fox AVC video and DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack treatment.

The movie tells the true-life story of Prince Johnie, the son of Queen Mary and King George V who was hidden from public view due to his epileptic fits. The Criterion Collection has revealed that they will bring the Gregory Nava film 'El Norte' to Blu-ray on January 20th. No technical specs or special features have been announced at this time. Additionally, Criterion Collection in conjunction with their sister company Janus have announced that they have acquired the home video rights to Goetz Spielmann's 'Revanche'. Fox Pathe Europa has announced that they will bring the Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro film 'Raging Bull' to Blu-ray on February 11th. According to Barrie Maxwell of The Digital Bits, Fox Home Entertainment is planning to release the Marilyn Monroe film 'The Seven Year Itch' for Blu-ray on April 14th. As this isn't an official announcement, no technical specs or special features have been announced at this time. Though, you can expect Fox to stick with their AVC video and DTS-HD Master Audio profile for this title.

Optimum Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring 'Cass' to Blu-ray in the UK on December 29th. This film tells the story of how Cass Pennant started as one of the most feared men on the streets, and then became one of Britain's best selling authors. No technical specs have been announced for this title at this time.

By now, if you aren't familiar with what 'Baraka' is all about, you're at least familiar with how well its Blu-ray release has been reviewed. When Roger Ebert, one of the most widely-known and respected movie reviewers of all time, calls it the "reason to acquire a Blu-ray player", you know there is something special on that disc. Usually, a title from a non-major studio would be buried beneath multi-million dollar studio films, but the relatively light offerings this week allow this must own title to float to top of the list.

According to the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA), the sales of Blu-ray Disc players and recorders in Japan represented 31% of the total market from October 2007 through September 2008. The represents a 10,700% increase in Blu-ray shipments in Japan from a year ago, which has driven a 4.5% increase in the consumer electronics market in general.

Samsung has announced that owners of the Samsung BD-P2550 Blu-ray Disc player can now update their player to stream movies from Netflix on demand catalog. Similar to the LG BD300, the Samsung player allows Netflix members to watch a number of standard definition movies over an internet connection instantly and at no additional cost.
