Warner Archive, in association with Hammer Films, is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Terence Fisher's Dracula (1958), starring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Michael Gough, Melissa Stribling, and Carol Marsh. The releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 27.

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Eureka Entertainment is bringing to Blu-ray one of the undisputed masterpieces of silent cinema: F.W. Murnau's 'Sunrise', which will hit British store shelves on September 21. Part of the studio's Masters of Cinema line, this release will include restored high-definition transfers of two different versions: the U.S. Movietone version and an alternate silent Czech version, recently discovered. The disc is reported to be region-free.

Following positive feedback and response to surveys, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced the extension of its Blu-ray Combo Pack initiatives worldwide. From now on through December 2010, all Disney-branded titles in all regions will be available as Blu-ray/DVD combo editions.

The BD edition of 'Highlander: Season One', which had originally been announced for February 15 and then delayed, will finally see the light on September 15. It will contain over 220 minutes of bonus features, including BD-Live for smartphones, which allows you to access features from your iPhone, Blackberry or other smartphone.

Movie studios are close to an agreement on the final format for 3-D Blu-ray, according to Yoshinami Takahashi, deputy senior general manager of Sony Corporation's home entertainment group. According to Takahashi, the specification will probably be adopted before the end of 2009, and discs and players with 3-D will then launch in late 2010.

Sony has announced three new Blu-ray players for the Australian market, with model numbers BDP-S360, BDP-S560 and BDP-S760. Details for the two first models are similar to their US versions, with BD-Live support and 1080p video on both of them, and wireless connectivity on the BDP-S560. The BDP- S760, in turn, is positioned as a flagship model.

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: A Very Sunny Christmas' for release on Blu-ray on November 17, day-and-date with the DVD. During the promotion of 'Inglourious Basterds,' Quentin Tarantino has told reporters that once his job with this film is done he plans to revisit and expand two of his movies, including a final 'Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair" and eventually the theatrical experience of 'Grindhouse', with a view to an eventual Blu-ray release.

The science-fiction Nicolas Cage vehicle 'Knowing' was the top-selling title on Blu-ray during the week ended August 9, according to data released by the British Video Association. The previous week's number one, 'Watchmen', dropped to second place. Places three and four were taken by two horror movies from Momentum Pictures: 'Let the Right One In' and 'Lesbian Vampire Killers'.

The four-wheel-action sequel 'Fast & Furious' was the top-selling title on Blu- ray on the week ended August 2, according to data from Nielsen VideoScan First Alert. 'Fast & Furious' showed surprising strength on BD, outselling the number one from the previous week, 'Watchmen', by nearly three to one. The first instalment of the franchise, 'The Fast and the Furious', now available separately, also made a respectable sixth place.

Toshiba Corporation announced today that the company has applied for membership of the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA), and plans to introduce products that support the Blu-ray format, including BD players and notebook PCs integrating BD drives, in the course of this year. When Toshiba conceded defeat in the format war in February 2008, it reiterated that it would not make any Blu-ray products – until June 2009, when the Toshiba president hinted at future BD support.

Warner Home Video has announced that it will release 'Gone with the Wind: 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition' on Blu-ray on November 17, and has also listed its extensive special features.
