Warner Archive, in association with Hammer Films, is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Terence Fisher's Dracula (1958), starring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Michael Gough, Melissa Stribling, and Carol Marsh. The releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 27.

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced Step Up 3 for Blu-ray release on December 21. This third installment in the Step Up franchise, the first dance film shot entirely in 3D, centers on a pair of gritty street dance squads facing off in the World Jam, a high-stakes showdown that is the hip-hop Olympics. It will come out in a BD/DVD edition and a three-disc 2D BD/3D BD/DVD/Digital Copy.

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced The A-Team for Blu-ray release on December 14, in a BD/Digital Copy combo, featuring the theatrical cut and an exclusive "explosive extended cut." An early announcement to retailers indicates that, on January 2011, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release the "Mexico Trilogy" directed by Robert Rodriguez, comprised of El Mariachi, Desperado and Once Upon a Time in Mexico. Somewhat confusingly, these three movies will reportedly be released neither individually nor as a trilogy box set: the first two will be released as a single-disc double feature on January 11, and the third will come out separately and a week earlier.

E One Entertainment has announced The Year of Getting to Know Us for Blu-ray release on December 7. This independent drama, starring comedian Jimmy Fallon, Sharon Stone, Tom Arnold and Lucy Liu, premiered at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival, but failed to get a theatrical release.

Michael Jackson's This is It has been re-released in an "Enhanced 3D Blu-ray" in France and the UK, exclusively for buyers of a Sony 3D TV or 3D Blu-ray player. It will include the 3D segments originally intended for the concert experience, including vignettes for "Thriller," "Smooth Criminal" and "Earth Song." However, as the songs are only partly in 3D, a signal will pop up on screen to indicate when viewers should put on or take off their 3D glasses.

This 1987 comedy starring Dustin Hoffman and Warren Beatty went down in film history books as a very expensive critical and commercial failure. It had never even been released on DVD.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced Ticking Clock for Blu-ray release on January 4, 2011. This action thriller stars Cuba Gooding, Jr. as an investigative crime reporter who must stop a brutal serial killer before time runs out. Like other recent thrillers from the studio (such as Unthinkable or The Experiment), it didn't get a theatrical release.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Film in 3D for release on November 16. This 3D Blu-ray will offer the highlights of the 2010 football (aka soccer) World Cup, held in South Africa and won by Spain in a first for this country team. Video is presented in 720p AVC-MVC, with English and German DTS-HD Master Audio soundtracks. Runtime is a mere 64 minutes. Note that, unlike most other 3D BDs, this disc will only play in 3D. It is labeled as region ABC.

According to figures released yesterday by DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group, consumer purchases of Blu-ray Disc software reached $1 billion by September 30. Sales increased 80% over the same period of 2009. Hardware sales also continued to climb, with over 3 million standalone BD players sold in the first nine months of the year- a YoY increase of 104%. This brings the total installed base of Blu-ray playback devices in the U.S. to 21.1 million units.

During a press day to promote Avatar: Extended Collector's Edition, James Cameron reassured fans wary of an Avatar triple dip by saying: "There's only one more play, maybe one, two years out, and that's 3D [Blu-ray]." No comment was given on the reported Panasonic-exclusive 3D BD release of the movie.

Arrow Video has officially announced and detailed the Blu-ray edition of Battle Royale, set for UK release on November 29. As previously reported, it will consist of three discs, with both the theatrical and the director's cut (both in 1080p). The two top titles for the previous week (Beauty and the Beast and Iron Man 2) slipped to second and third place, respectively. Jonah Hex only made it to number 5. Manga Home Entertainment has announced Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings, The Complete Series for Blu-ray release in the UK on November 8. This TV anime adaptation of the hit Capcom video game series is produced by Production I.G. and directed by Itsuro Kawasaki. It's released on a two-disc set featuring all 13 episodes of the show's first season.

The upcoming Blu-ray edition of Toy Story 3 includes a flyer announcing that another Pixar production, The Incredibles, will be released on Blu-ray in the spring of 2011, in a BD/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack. Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced Ray for Blu-ray release on February 1, 2011. This Ray Charles biopic won two Academy Awards in 2005, including Best Actor for Jamie Foxx. It had been released in 2006 in the defunct HD DVD format. The BD adds lossless audio and a new U-Control track.

Cinram GmbH has announced the installation of a third Blu-ray replication line in its plant in Aachen, Germany. After this line is operational (which is expected for the end of October), production capacity will increase to 45,000 BDs per day. The replication line is manufactured by Singulus and involved an investment of about 1.5 million euros. It will be used to manufacture BDs for 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, among other clients.

AIX Records has announced its next music album on 3D Blu-ray for late October, which will also be the world's first classical music release on 3D BD: Mozart: Clarinet Quintet, K.581 / Horn Quintet, K.407 / String Quartet, K.169, performed by The Old City String Quartet, winner of the Fischoff Chamber Music Prize Gold Medal for 2010. Warner Home Video has announced that, on January 4, 2011, it will re-release How the West Was Won on Blu-ray in standard packaging. This Cinerama-shot Western had been released in 2008, in a two-disc DigiBook edition. However, this re-release has only one disc and hence misses out on the alternate "SmileBox" presentation included in the DigiBook.

Magnolia Home Entertainment has announced the Indonesian martial arts film Merantau (also known as Merantau Warrior) for Blu-ray release on December 28. The title refers to a traditional rite of passage in which a young man must leave his family's home to make it on his own. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced Salt for Blu-ray release on December 21, in a Deluxe unrated edition. This spy/action thriller was initially penned with Tom Cruise in mind, but when the actor declined, it was rewritten to make Angelina Jolie the star. The bet paid off as Salt grossed nearly $118 million in theaters this summer. Three versions of the movie will be presented in the BD: theatrical, unrated and unrated extended.
