One Night Only Collector's Edition 4K Blu-ray

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy(Extended Editions) made a smashing debut on the Blu-ray format. Lord of the Rings easily reached the No. 1 spot in the weekly Blu-ray charts, and became the week's No.2 overall seller. Apparently, the controversy present in many of the online forums did not deter fans from purchasing the Blu-ray extended edition version of the trilogy.

Footloose Blu-ray

Paramount has announced that their enduringly popular 1984 dance flick, Footloose will make its Blu-ray debut on September 27th. The Blu-ray will introduce several new special features, including Kevin Bacon's original screen test for his famous role as Ren McCormack. A SRP of $24.99 has been set.

Blue Underground will release Lucio Fulci's Zombie on Blu-ray just in time for Halloween this fall. The Italian answer to George Romero's Dawn of the Dead, Zombie focuses on a doctor's attempt to stop an undead plague from his remote island. The Blu-ray streets on October 25th.

Priest 2D & 3D Blu-rays

This August, Sony Pictures will release Priest on Blu-ray. This sci-fi/horror/western mash-up stars Paul Bettany (A Knight's Tale) as the titular character, a futuristic clergyman who breaks with the church to pursue the vampires that kidnapped his niece. Sony presents the unrated cut of the film in both standard 2D and 3D Blu-ray editions. Both versions street on August 16th.

Vivendi Home Entertainment will bring Tactical Force starring Steve Austin to Blu-ray on August 9th. The film centers on an elite police squad who are tasked with breaking the plans of two rival gangs. Michael Jai White (The Dark Knight), Michael Shanks (Stargate SG-1) and Keith Jardine (Crank: High Voltage) co-star.

Outside the Law (Hors la loi) Blu-ray

Palisades Tartan will bring Rachid Bouchareb's historical action/drama Outside the Law (Hors la loi) to Blu-ray on August 2nd. The film, which represented Algeria for best foreign film at the 2011 Oscars, sparked political controversy in France for its recreation of the 1945 Sétif massacre. A SRP of $27.98 has been listed.

Anchor Bay has announced the release of Wes Craven's Scream 4 for Blu-ray. The film, which stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette will be released in a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack with a digital copy. Scream 4 will street October 4th.

The Last Circus Blu-ray

French distributors M6 Video have revealed that they are preparing a Blu-ray release of Spanish director Alex de la Iglesia's highly anticipated Balada triste de trompeta a.k.a The Last Circus (2010), starring Carlos Areces, Antonio de la Torre, Carolina Bang, and Manuel Tallafé. In 2010, the film won Silver Lion and Best Screenplay Awards at the Venice Film Festival. Street date is October 26th.

Boost in Blu-ray Income for Image Entertainment

Image Entertainment Inc., which in addition to other labels distributes the prestigious Criterion Collection, has reported net income of more than $1.7 million for the fiscal year ended March 31. The improved financial performance is credited to a 71% boost in Blu-ray Disc income to $16.1 million from $9.4 million final year, TV promote income increasing 43% to $5.9 million from $4.1 million, and digital revenue, that includes transactional VOD, increasing 50% to $6.2 million.

Picking up immediately after the events of the first Halloween, the sequel finds Michael Myers terrorizing Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis, Trading Places) in a nearby hospital. Optimum Home Entertainment Becomes StudioCanal

In a short statement released via their TweetDeck, British distributors Optimum Home Entertainment have announced that as of September 1 they will be renamed to StudioCanal. The move, which will also affect Kinowelt in Germany, aims to harmonize the name of the affiliated companies that currently distribute content owned by the French juggernaut.

This September, Image Entertainment will release the horror-comedy Dead Heat on Blu-ray. Treat Williams (The Phantom) and Joe Piscopo (Wise Guys) star in the film as Detectives Roger Mortis and Doug Bigelow, two cops whose investigation of a zombie crime syndicate hits a stumbling block when Mortis is killed and must rejoin the case as an undead ghoul. Dead Heat streets on September 20th.

Special Screening: Insidious

To celebrate the July 12th release date of Insidious on Blu-ray, Sony Pictures and Fangoria will host a free screening of the film on Monday, July 11th. Director James Wan and screenwriter Leigh Whannell will be present for a Q&A following the screening; the Q&A will be streamed live for those who cannot make the screening.
