Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Scream Factory and Shout Factory have announced their November batch of releases. They are: The Chow Yun-Fat Collection Volume One, The Family Man (2000), Women in Prison Collection (1971-1985), and The Transformers: The Movie (1986).

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

The Rock 30th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray

For the week of January 8th, Walt Disney Home Entertainment brings Tim Burton's Frankenweenie to Blu-ray. In 1984, the film began its existence as a short feature about the relationship between a boy genius and his recently deceased - and revived - dog. The short immediately found critical and commercial acclaim, and almost thirty years later, Burton created this expanded 3D edition.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has released an exciting new clip from the upcoming Blu-ray release of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2. In it, Batman fights a Gotham City SWAT team led by Commissioner Gordon's replacement, Ellen Yindel. As a result of the December holiday season, far fewer new films hit the home media format during the month's last week, a condition that allowed for some older titles to score the top sales figures on both the Blu-ray-only and overall package media charts. At number one on both lists is The Dark Knight Rises, director Christopher Nolan's final entry in his Academy Award-winning Dark Knight trilogy.

Entertainment One UK is the top independent distributor in the UK in 2012. Promoting such hits as Breaking Dawn -- Part 2, Looper, Nativity!, Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger!, The Sweeney and The Angels' Share, Entertainment One has posted its strongest gross to date with $132.6 million (£81.66 million) and a 6.9 percent market share.
